This is not a track oil cooler if you want to track in anything but winter weather.

Really? :-) There are even cooler-free cars on tracks so there is a good reason to know numbers for people which are on track once per year.

I'm considering this kit with my supercharged car. I have the Perrin oil cooler, but I only daily my car and occasionally take it for a hard drive on the twisties, and feel it's overkill. Curious how this works with FI applications (track or daily).

There cusco oil cooler or the forester xt cooler does wonders to heat up the oil quicker and helps maintain oil temps. If you like getting dirty and saving money I'd recommend the forester xt setup but if you want to throw money around and have a much quicker install the cusco is the way to go.

The cusco setup you cut lines to install. The forester xt you replace pipes and lines to match the direct Subaru setup for this block.

There's a walk through on this forums but I'd be recommending different barbs then the guy uses. You want all 1 piece barbs and they can be purchased at jegs.com. I can give you links if you go that route.

With a turbo you want the oil to get to operational temp as soon as possible. Both help that big time.

Forester xt set me back about $180 complete at the time.

I'll take a look at both installations. Because I'm lazy I'll probably go with the cusco lol. Thanks for the info though!

I bypassed the coolant lines that run to the throttle body for my XT Oil Cooler. Install was super easy. If you are running a GTX series turbo or another that is water cooled than you may want to think twice about the XT cooler as they use the TB lines for coolant.

Been running the xt cooler for a year now. No issues besides the turbo water fittings and lines from fullblown started to leak. I replaced those pigs with some nice braided lines.

My car will never see a track and its driven 5-6 days a week.

All Turbo Subaru's have this cooler and lines. So if its good enough for Subaru, its good enough for me. We dont need to reinvent the wheel.

I agree, I love the quick warm-up as well...I think it will pay off in terms of cold start scuffing. You are running a GTX turbo correct? How are you feeding coolant to your turbo and cooler?

Also currently running this oil cooler and for DD its been working just fine. If you track then air/oil cooler would be better. Although for the DD this cooler works perfect especially when encountering stop and go traffic in congested areas.

The turbo water lines are how fullblown had it from the throttle body and thr xt cooler has a block barb from the engine case like the forestor and the entire pipe under the car that has 3 fittings is replaced with a 4 fitting pipe.
The forest xt cooler doen't touch the throttle body lines like the turbo uses.

The heat block under the oil filter is also great. All one piece and no leaks, oil or coolant.

Ahh I see. Myself I bypassed and used the coolant lines that run to the throttle body. I always forget this is a "workaround" and the not the OEM setup.

So if I installed the oem style oil cooler, or the cusco, and don't drain my coolant... and I go to install it, will coolant go all over the place? Stupid question, I know, wanna fight about it?
