That's besides the point, it really doesn't matter how low it is or how much camber it has...

Drift 101 by AJ Gillett, on Flickr

It just comes down to how the car was actually set up, and whether or not the owner actually drives their car hard. But really whether or not they do track the car or anything of the sort, the car is in no way ruined or a waste of a car, it's just set up the way the owner wants it.

Even done right, I don't get it. If someone would care to explain why this is appealing to me, I would love to be enlightened.
Reminds me of fixed gear bicycles and skinny jeans. Some things just don't make sense and aren't normally done. That's why some people latch on to it to be different.

You think drifting is cool? I can understand that. You drive around like a hoon sliding all over the place.

You think drag cars are cool? Once again, understandable. You go crazy fast.

You think racecars are cool? Get that too. You go crazy fast but with TURNS.

You think huge speakers and sound systems are cool? Once again, kinda understandable to me. You enjoy music and made an awesome sound system.

I do not understand this fad though. What is the appeal to being crazy stupid low with lots of negative camber, stretched tires, and no wheel gap? I don't get it. If you're favorite color is red and mine is blue, how can I possibly make you like blue? Everybody is different there's nothing to understand.

As long as it's not endangering other drivers, live and let live. I'm sure there are plenty of people who are buying these cars because they like the look and who don't care about the performance aspect, which is fine. I'm just not sure how so many young people can afford this. Between all the money to get it initially set up like this, tires, and all the damage they must do to the underside of the car, it has got to be crazy expensive long-term to have one of these cars.

Hence the reason that you hear the "low and slow" cliche a lot. It annoys the hell out of lead feet like me, but I would rather they were slow and safe (and avoidable) rather than fast and out of control.

And I'm pretty sure most of the really unsafe looking cars with ridiculous amounts of negative camber are just show cars, which works for me too. I can't imagine the original picture from this thread makes the car truly unsafe on the roads if you don't drive it like an idiot. Again, not my thing, but if it makes them happy and doesn't negatively impact others, not my place to tell them no.

Not at all... Aside from hitting bumpers occasionally these cars have everything tucked up nice and far under them, so you don't really have to worry about scraping frame like you do on some cars. You're more likely to mess up your car at a track day than from driving around town low. My IS300 has -5.5 degrees of camber in front, and my most recent set of front tires made it across the country, to 3 drift events, and they still look like new. I can't really gauge how long the rears last because I'm burning them up at drift events.

Realistically, setting a car up like this is cheaper than doing anything else to a car really. Most kids just buy coil overs and wheels, go to town on the fenders, and call it a day

you know what i love? arguing about a car that isn't yours and a car that most of you will never see in person LOL.

we get it, some of you dont like it or understand it. let it go. you wont change his views, or anyone elses. you dont have to understand it, just respect it and appreciate it for what it is, because we are ENTHUSIASTS.

would i do this to my car? no. do i car that he did. no. does what this car look like effect me in any way? no. do i respect vic for doing shit no one has yet to do and fitting twists to a brz. fuck YES. threads like this remind me of why i fucking hate forums, because in person if vic was standing leaning on his car. you wouldn't say a god damn word to his face.

ill motion, keep doing what you do. MOAR ANGLE!

I am at stock height and my exhaust comes pretty darn close to scraping on speed bumps and some driveways.
