i tie all my extra income with my art since im still a freelance artist. never had a problem. some good perks being self employed artist, especially during tax season.

As bad as internet advice is, you're supposed to claim all significant sources of income. If the minimum amount required to file taxes is $600, then how much is significant?

LOL. I know I look at being taxed a lot different than most people do but I wish I paid twice as much as I do now. That would translate to a lot more income than I presently have.

Not necessarily in a progressive tax system.

If you're making $249k you're taxed at 25% which is $62k. You said you want to pay twice as much? Well you only have to make $327k to pull that off which is only 31% more than you were making before. Unfortunately you're now in the 38% tax bracket and shelling out $124k in taxes. Doesn't seem very fair to me especially when you have over 40% of the country paying $0.
