Eric have you tried the latest firmware from 4/4? It was supposed to fix a bunch of the bugs.

I like the GoPro also because of 3rd party support because of their open APIs. Solostorm now downloads the video straight from the GoPro via WiFi, starts the camera for each run, etc. It's really slick now with the auto-download option and with the latest firmware it downloads very fast.

I use a ReplayXD camera. It records in 720p, 960p and 1080p. It can record 30 fps in both and also 60 fps in 960p I believe. It looks smooth as hell! I like that it's very compact (about the size of a cigar, a little shorter perhaps) and has a tough anodized aluminum case and is water resistant. You can go through the mud with it and rain and it doesn't care. It's been pretty reliable for me and the battery lasts longer than my friends' GoPro Hero 3. You can also take still pics with it and plug in an external mic. It uses Micro SD memory cards. My video here is using a Hero 3 on the outside of the car door, and in-car footage is with my ReplayXD.

Yeah I actually have the Silver and not the Black, the Black apparently has way more issues. , enough for GoPro to put a public apology on their Facebook page.

Drift HD, the video quality isn't quite as good as the GoPro but it's smaller and easier to deal with.

I'm cheap so I made a simple mount that attached to the headrest of my 350Z, luckly the head rest posts are spaced the same distance on the FRS so I plan on transferring it over.

Don't have a picture in an FRS yet, but here's a similar one a 350Z

Then I attach my cheap canon point and shoot to a tripod pivot (for mine the head rest posts actually go through the bar):

And it produces videos like this:

I agree. I also own a Hero 3 black edition and have noise issues, video not properly recording, battery draining quickly at standby etc..
I especially dislike their bad mechanical interfaces which can hardly support the camera with the extra battery pack and the flimsy battery lid. I hate the fact that one need to cut holes in order to access the SD card or need to cut a hole to plug in their microphone (if the case is already open anyway, there's no reason to block any accessory ports - but I guess this happens when a company invests orders of magnitudes more in marketing than in engineering).

Today, I would simply buy a Sony Action Cam.
