I hate white cars with a passion. A passion. My parents had a white camry and I thought it was the most dull, lifeless car ever. They joked about giving it to me as my first car and I always thought I would go carless before I let that car be mine. I just can't find any appeal in them. That being said, I will admit that the FR-S looks good in all the colors, including white. I still want nothing to do with it, but it's a good looking car.
You would think though, that the one color that costs extra would be less popular. Completely not the case here. A lot of people have given plenty of good reasons why it's so popular. It still strikes me as a little odd though, but to each their own. I like hot lava best.

I just really like how it won't show swirls and will be easier to keep clean.

White is a classic color, like black, and red. I personally went with the Whiteout because it's like my FRS is always dressed up in a white tux wherever we go, classy 24/7/365.
Side note: I wanted to get a raven initially for the same reasons above regarding the tux comment, but living in Florida with the sun beating it down everyday and the ease of swirl marks to show made my decision to go with the Whiteout feel a bit more practical. |

My miata is white, and it took me a while to bring myself to buy it because of that. I kept watching for other similar cars to come up for sale in a better color but it just didn't happen. I got used to it now, but I'm still not sure that's a color I'm ready to choose on a new car.

i love how jay mentions the historic country racing colors in this video. italian red, british racing green, american white and blue stripes or blue and white stripes, French (bugatti) blue. germany was historically white before they stopped using paint all together, and became silver. even today when you think of benz or audi you probably think of silver. after germany adopted silver japan started using white, usually with a red dot somewhere. japanese sports cars became associated with white as a result, the 2000GT was first revealed in white, the Type R NSX's and Integras were championship white, every single picture i've seen of the mazda cosmo has been white. it's also a very common color for the old school Z cars, used for the iconic panda scheme of the ae86, etc etc. white and japanese sports cars just works, just like italian exotics and red.

White is the most popular color for cars right now period. look it up they did some study on it, It beat Silver out a couple of years ago as the most abundant color wanted by people and driven on the road.

Per the comment on separating silver and gray, I think that's because of the resurgence in the early 2000s (I think?) of gray becoming a popular color again. The road is definitely a sea of neutrals though. I posted the DuPont infographic on the previous page. |

I love the Whiteout/Satin White pearl that's why I bought mine, I would love it even more if it looked like VWs Candy White.

When I got my car I considered getting white or asphalt. But when it came down to it the pearl really makes the white just that much nicer. Plus I am suprised no one has mentioned this, but I think that the red interior clashes with some of the colors.

Now that you mention it, I'd honestly like to have the red interior accents redone in dark blue. Ah, well, so many mods, so little time (and money).
