My WRB series blue has about 1800 miles and already have small paint chips in my front bumper, and also some in the hood

Subaru makes awesome cars but the paint is very weak, is this is only japanese automaker with awful paint quality?

Anyways any good tips for a noob to touch up those paint chips?

Swing by the dealer and grab a touch up pen. Works great and after you have done a dozen or so you start toe get really good at it!

I tried Dr Colorchip, and I wasn't that impressed with the paint match. Now I prefer using the OEM factory touch up paint, and/or Langka. Read the reviews so you an know how to get better results from people who have more experience.

Clear bra, if you mean the plastic coat... only good for few months/years if ylu drive a lot. Then a lot starts to scale up. I just saw a Matrix suffering of scaling...only 1yr old. It is parked in sun 24/7...though.

...Maybe depends on what brand/who put the clear bra, so you might be right!

IMHO get a leather bra, mud guards and don't drive close to semi's or other vehicles...oh and wax! twice a month should help! Double layer it up.

Leather guards allow dirt/debris to accumulate between the leather and paint surface. If you don't routinely remove it to clean then it will start to act like sandpaper on the paint.

And by clear bra, I mean something like 3M or Xpel Ultimate. I had 3M on my WRX for 10 years without any issues. Car was daily driven (120 miles per day) and parked in the sun M-F at work for 8-10 hours. I have Xpel Ultimate on the BRZ now and no issues.
