Punk IPA from these guys in Scotland: http://www.brewdog.com/beer
I hold them largely responsible for the recent explosion in the popularity of IPA (at least for me anyway). They are major hopheads.
Sadly, we're not importing it to Canada anymore (Ontario liquor stores anyway).
Fortunately there are now a ton of microbreweries around here, so there is no shortage of variety. Beau's, Mill Street, Black Creek, Kitchissippi, Flying Monkeys (they make a nice hoppy IPA, almost as good as Punk IPA). http://theflyingmonkeys.ca/
Not sure if you can get that in the US or not. We get a few American microbrews here like Samuel Adams and Anchor steam beer.
From England: Spitfire beer, anything from Samuel Smith brewery, Witchwood brewery is always interesting.

Trying the allagash black right now at a local tap room. Excellent beer.

Another awesome dark beer: Flying Dog Pearl Necklace Oyster Stout.

I'm afraid to google image search that one.

As far as I can see, I'm very glad I live in Belgium (= the beer country)

a few beers I prefer:
Westmalle Dobbel:

Chimay Blauw:

Rochefort:

And if I can get my hands on it:
Westvleteren:

And if I want to get back sober I just drink this:

In case if anyone is wondering, we have here in Belgium around a 1000 different beers.

Generally, I think the beer your drink, like the bread you eat, should be local.

Some of my favorites (from where I've lived or nearby):
Black Butte Porter (Oregon)
Racer 5 IPA (NoCal)
Anything by Stone Brewery (SoCal)
Nimbus IPA (Tucson)
Dragoon IPA (Tucson)

Similar to what some have said already, if I'm drinking it's usually to get wasted so I don't goto beer very often.

If I do however, I stick to the middle of the road type of stuff. Not that Bud crap (which my roomate, god bless his soul... actually prefers... *facepalm* )

My favs include:

Blue Moon (seasonal stuff is awesome)
Goose Island's 312
Shock Top
Angry Orchard (it's a cider but Christ is it good)

Back in the 70's Lucky Breweries made a Bock that they sold in cans. Blew my mind.
I had been used to Rainier and Olympia Lagers. That's all you could find locally back then.
Want a beer? It's a lager.
Lucky only sold it for a month or so in the spring, so I was jonesing most of the year.

What fits my pallate best now is Rogue Breweries Dead Guy Ale.

They do a Double Dead Guy in the authorized pubs, but it's not available from Safeway (more alcohol content).

A couple years ago, they printed up some 40's with a glow in the dark Dead Guy logo. Still have one on the shelf.
I'm not at home, or I'd post up a pic.

There will always be a special place in my heart for Kostritzer. But since I can't find it here I now drink the Guiness Black Lager

For someone that says that when they drink it's to get drunk that's a decent selection. Blue Moon is a old favorite of mine. I discovered it on my 21st birthday.
