The FA20 is a beefy motor. If you're not shooting for more than 350hp and not planning on endurance racing the thing, I wouldn't bother with more than a new OEM short block. This isn't the engine's fault; this is the fault of improper installation.

FullBlown you guys have the heads ready yet? i may need some lol
May I ask how much you saved by getting Toyota to install the kit vs driving out to get the vendor to install it for you?

Yeah, no point in keeping rehashing what could have been...

How are you finding 96 octane in the Bay Area?

@OP-Sorry for your loss. And not to kick you while you're down or anything, but I will say that spinning the tires in first and hitting 6000 rpm in second doesn't seem like "normal driving" to me, especially on a not fully setup or tested brand new turbo setup. I know the pull of boost and the excitement of your new setup is hard to resist, but I think this could have been avoided if you had waited to beat on the thing until you had all your sensors etc. setup and working. Heck, I wouldn't tune a factory turbo car much past stock without a wideband and some way to monitor the boost, much less a full aftermarket setup.

yes ill admit if i had a wideband and or boost gauge installed it might have been preventable. Still doesnt excuse the fact something was more than likely installed wrong

@Frs300 out of curiosity, did your engine have any weird noise when you started it? my engine has a weird sound in that exact area where your hole is since i installed my turbo kit. at first, i thought it was my turbo that was dry and missing oil, after many checks and stuff its getting its oil but the weird noise is still there. i removed my serpentine belt and checked all my pulleys for a bad bearing and the alternator as well but all is fine. i started the motor again and it still sounds weird. i dont know if you are getting your oil feed from the same location as me and if your turbo uses an oil restrictor but mine doesnt. i am starting to wonder if its not a lack of oil in that area in the motor caused by the turbo oil feed.

i simply turned my car off and i am debating removing my whole turbo kit and going back to stock just to start the motor again so that i can compare the noise with or without the kit.

I agree, i think your fuel pump wasn't properly installed. Hence why you werent getting the right power and putting strain on engine. It was only a matter of time. Next time park it up until you sort it out. Sorry to hear that you blew your engine and look at it in a good way, when you build back up go all out.
