http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/ohim/onh00/bar8.htm

The fatal accident rate per 100k drivers for 65+ is just over 22 (36 for 20-24). I can't find miles driven info for just 20-24, but when adjusted to the avg miles driven for 20-34, the 65+ accident rates spikes to just under 33. So when they're actually on the road, they are nearly as dangerous as younger drivers (who generally have increased restrictions). I don't think it's out of the question to ask that senior drivers also face increased restrictions, though the seniors are such an important voting black that I seriously doubt that will ever happen.
I agree with most of what you say. The scary part of the 20-24 age drivers is the number of alcohol related deaths. To me this is a judgement related issue.

I'm a 22 yo driver and I completely agree that the judgement of most drivers my age is lacking. I won't even get in the car with a bunch of my friends driving.

I was 22 once and wouldn't want to get into a car with me driving then.

When I was younger driving with my friends was the scariest fucking thing I ever did. Thank god for Moore's law, that's all I can say...

hmmmmmmmm, crazy old people huh? How about this dude? A 20 something driver. The 2 cars that were parked in the driveway have been moved out of the way in this pic. Car ran up onto hood of first car and sailed over the top of the second one and ended up here.

The driver, believed to be in his 20s, lost control of his red Audi TT and left the road at 1:45am today.

The car mounted a pavement and flew through a hedge before going over the top of two parked cars in a driveway and smashing into the front window and brickwork of a detached house.

The front end of the car was left wedged in the £250,000 house about 4ft above the ground, with the rear resting on the bonnet of a car in the driveway

Shocked householder Paul Welham, 40, is believed to have been in bed when he was woken by the impact. Nobody in the house was injured.

AT 1:45 AM? Hmmmm! 20s + alcohol + four (or two) wheels = big bang at night.

I would suggest that the next time you drive thru, to, or from Arkansas you remove the Tennessee Volunteers or the Ford window sticker.

Statistically speaking, you have a higher chance of choking on bubblegum than being rear ended by a 70+ year-old. Let up on the old guys... ban bubblegum. :P
