key word is "shouldn't"... but sadly did. Why he? IDK. Why they? IDK

They made out like bandits on the deal though....sell high, he gets hurt and barely plays for 2 years, then get him for dirt cheap when he's healthy.

whoa whoa whoa @Dimman someone on Spyderchat had a WTB 6 speed transmission thread, one guy replies and says he has a spare that he is willing to sell for 900 + s/h... I thought they were 2000? Maybe that's just the newer ones with LSD.
Shit, now I'm tempted to buy a 6 speed instead of get a 5th gear swap.

So the day I sold my Mustang I hear someone I know talking about their FRS they just bought. We go to the same college so it was just luck that I heard them talking about it.

Why did I hear about it? Because he wrecked it 4 days after he bought it and it's in the repair shop.

2000 is high-mileage, used Supra 6 speed money.

There were a fair bit of GT-S Celicas and Matrix/Corolla XRS' that had 6 speeds.

You could maybe even find a 2ZZ/6M combo for 2-3k if you look hard.

Probably. But at this point it feels a little weird to "upgrade" to a 13 year old engine lol. Kinda like putting a 4AG into a Spyder when it was new, ya know?

If I'm swapping engines, I'm waiting on Honda/Toyota's upcoming 1.5L class engines. The 2ZR, R18, L15 and 1NZ are garbage, and there are no 1ZRs available here (besides since it shares the 2ZR's block, it's not going to be as light). The 1NZ has a really good power to weight ratio, I have high hopes for their new 1.5L, if it ever arrives.

No, it would be like putting a 2ZZ into the Spyder when it was new. ie: awesome.

The big deal with the 2ZZ isn't just moar powah (which I realize isn't your primary goal), it's the ease of doing it. It's pretty much made to fit and, more importantly, many people have done and documented it.

Baby steps...

Yea I know, but it's like giving a cripple a walking stick, instead of joint surgery, if you get what I mean :P

I still am waiting for them to make a new MR2, I really hate this softtop. If the new one is a softtop, I'm going to flip a shit.

Blasphemy! 2ZZ compared to a cane...

You get your cam and lift control plus over 8k rpm, damnit...

Now imagine it with ITBs and a DIY motorcycle style twin injection and a bump to 13:1 cr. How do you not have a boner over that?

Or even boxed ITBs, dual injection and a TVS...
