That's cool what you did. Much respect goes to you for that. I would had never guessed you would do something that generous.

That place sounds awesome. I don't believe anyone offers go-kart drifting here around Boston. DAMN!

And have a safe trip on your way to college.

Yea exactly. When I saw the FRS I was like "what? I thought they said it was a small car..." You know, the weirdest feeling in the world is when you park a SUV where you can't see 8 feet behind your bumper, and then get into a Spyder which has the shortest length of car behind the driver besides maybe a Smart fortwo/iQ, and back up. It is like, whoa, where did the massive bus-like passenger compartment go? The car ends right after my head!

Thanks! You have an RX-7? hehe. The guy selling the car said he had an RX-7 for 20 years before he got the MR2, that he drove for over 200k miles. When I heard that, I was like "okay, I think he probably takes really good care of his cars". He mentioned his RX-7, and I immediately asked him "so how many engines did you blow?" He was like, "only one ".

Reality is vanity plays a huge role, as evidenced by all the 'stancing' already going on with the FR-S. And straight line speed.

Enjoy what is arguably the best driver's car Toyota ever made. No matter what people say about the twins.
I guess the 2+2 seating is cool and all but I'm surprised Spyders aren't so popular. I mean, there's people buying FR-S right now as a second car, people who don't intend to put anything/anyone in the back seat, etc. I suppose it might be the soft top. I wasn't a believer in the convertible, but after that quick test drive I think I might be converted... I dunno, wind/bugs/dirt in my hair isn't super appealing to me but I suppose there's something kinda cool about motoring in the open.

Or maybe, it's the 140hp that posers feel will make them lose face
You should hurry up and try to get one! 2ZZ spyders are faster than an FR-S will ever be short of built engines with giant turbos :P

'Converted'? Evil pun. Heh.

In all honesty I'm thinking of delaying the BRZ even longer until the 'new' wears off even more. Spyder is tempting, but I've got a few things to work against. First they command a premium here since they weren't officially imported. All are grey market US imports. Second I want a silver car and a hard top. Black or white are acceptable if the black doesn't have the tan interior. I'm tired of compromising on the colours I want which is part of the 'first new car' appeal of the BRZ. Last is moar powah. I want a 2ZZ/6m swap. As you noted, with very mild suspension this setup would destroy an FR-S on the track. But I have zero MR experience. Would be nice to master, as I'm apathetic towards drifting. A Canadian member actually offered me a written off Matrix XRS with 6M last year at an ok price, but I was broke then, and still don't have workspace...

So I might if the stars and such align. But until then the BRZ fund is at least growing ok.

I love my FD. I've had her for years, and I've never blown an engine. She's not my DD though, I save her for weekends when I don't have to worry about parking her overnight at work and having her broken into. :S

Also, if you're interested there is a hardtop available for the MR-S. I was thinking about buying a friend's for a while, and it's one of the things I looked into.

Sexy, eh?

It's cool that you went with the MR2. I like my cargo room so I'd never get a MR2/MRS but I still respect them.

Classes start tomorrow for me, I don't even have my books yet. D: But Wednesday I have PT and that means 6am, wee.

I believe the gym scale is probably going to be more accurate than home scale. Unless you calibrate the home scale.

Arguing with fanboys about suspension, among other things, has made me realize that I come across a jerk being here when I don't have a car outside that I can go check for comparison and won't for some time. Plus when I chauffeured 4 people in my Mustang, my youngest sister complained of no leg room with the seat all the way forward, God they grow up so fast. I've been keeping on eye out for a SVT focus, I'm pretty sure that would work for another year or two.

The frunk is actually pretty big without the spare. With the spare, eh, you can put some toothpicks in there, maybe a short novel.

The compartments behind the seats are pathetic. Actually it's just that they're really really lacking in one dimension (depth looking into them), so you can't fit a normal carry-on suitcase. I may look into getting some duffel bags. With the top up you can put some stuff under the rear window, I will need to experiment and see what can fit there.

2 seats means no need to chaffeur people.

I figure, people survive with motorbikes, which have even less luggage capacity (although if you hang those bag things off the back it's a close call! ), I can survive with this just fine. Passenger seat can hold anything too big to put in the rear compartments, and anything that doesn't fit there wouldn't fit in anything less than an SUV/truck (okay I guess Fit/Yaris hatch can swallow quite a bit of stuff for their size).

Aside from getting too impatient to get a car (high mileage stuff is all I can afford now), I decided to jump ship on getting a BRZ in a few more years because I don't want a rather new car to become the victim of some rather extreme mods. I will try to live with this car as long as I can.

Congrats. Did you go with the first one that I listed? Is it a manual? That car looks very clean.

I envy you who can choose his own car without all the baggage.....

Yes, thank you very much for the recommendation! Yes it is manual. Only complaint is that I wish it had slightly closer ratios and one more gear.

I've double checked by home weight scale by putting 30 lbs dumbbell and my weight scale was 1lbs off... so prob my home weight scale is closer to actual weight

It was a mixture of the styling and its power, mostly the styling. While a Miata is said to be 'girlish' in its design (early on at least), the Spyder was was more feminine looking, imho. That being said, I have driven a Spyder spirtedly before and Dimman is correct. It's basically a modern day AW11 (1st gen MR2), only with a ragtop and more rounded curves.

Why Toyota didn't offer a trim with the 2ZZ-GE is beyond me. The engine mated to that chassis makes that car a Miata eater in Auto-X, and if the engine had been a factory option...oof, the Stock class would be its bitch.

One could even further ponder the potentials of that car had it been offered with a S/C, just like the AW11....hrrmm..damn...

I plan on building one some day. With a 2ZZ they're definite sleepers. Great car all around. Grats on the buy!

If you haven't seen this yet...
