Got a chance to bomb around in a 2014 Toyota Corolla yesterday when I went to have lunch with a friend who works at a dealership.

What a fucking piece of shit car.

Is it safe, fuel efficient and roomy? Yes.

But the interior quality, the ergonomics, the relative positions of all the little knobs and switches.. OMG WTF MANG.

It felt to me like the very bright young individual, who had spent many hours toiling behind the computer designing a proper car interior, was fired by his manager (let’s call him Joe) just a few hours before completion. Joe, who has as much understanding of ergonomic design as a pebble, resting at the bottom of the Atlantic, has of the origins of life, but is the 2nd son twice removed of the asshat in head office, decides to take the credit for himself and submits the plans… not realized that just a few moments before a cat with a magnet strapped to its neck had decided to faceroll on the computer and keyboard, completely corrupting the image and files.

When the top brass looked at this Picasso-of-a-masterpiece, they had little choice to do anything because Joe is buddy-buddy with our friends here, they were running out of time and quite frankly not giving a flying fuck about anything. “They’ll buy whatever barf we put in the show rooms because we’re so fucking awesome”

During the 90s Toyota had made an amazing Corolla. The car was baller. It had everything anyone ever needed and they lasted to some astronomical lengths of time, surviving winters, sandstorms and an occasional meteorite.

Then they just had to go and fuck it all up.

I don’t understand.. car manufactures of the world.

Why, why must you butcher your supposedly forward designs, year after year.

And don’t say “cuz we want to make bags of cash”, because no amount of greed can explain why you would build ugly and uncomfortable shit.

Lol, wow based on your observations and review of the new Corolla, I definitely won't recommend it to family and friends. Not that they would ask anyway, people who buy Corollas just want a "car" and nothing more lol IMO of course

the arm-rest in a brand new car WOBBLES like someone put it there with scotch-tape

the guy who designed the steering wheel seemed to have forgotten to leave a place where you CAN PUT YOUR HANDS

the door cards wobble

sharp, uneven and intrusive angles on all the dashtrims

door handles requiring midget hands

door handes in rear of car requiring t-rex hands

rear door card and handle design completly counter-intuitive to a human being


everything your hands touch feels out of place and everything your eyes look at makes you cringe

horrible, horrible design.


but i'll agree it looks okay from the outside.

Because its boring, predictable, and everywhere. Pick a car, someone has swapped an LS motor into it, it might not have worked, but they did it. It's boring, can we do something different now? I know there are certain formulas that just work to make power, but it's getting old seeing whatever old/classic car with a clean interior, well built, with the same damn LS2 or LS1 that everybody puts into everything. Where's the challenge, where's the ingenuity, where's the sense of uniqueness?

It's a great motor, I hate it because people put it in everything.

The challenge is finding the $$$ for something else that makes similar power so easily IMO.

I agree the LS swaps are done too often, but they work in soooo many applications!

RB26! Granted, people do that swap in 240s all the time, when/if they can afford it. I know the LS motor is cheap and makes great power for the money, size, weight, but it's damn everywhere. I tend to lose a lot of respect for car builds once they decide to go with an LS power train. The obvious exception to that is LS swaps with other GM vehicles. LS3 into a solstice? Bring it on. LS3 into an FRS (I know it's been done)? Gag me with a spoon.

Lol, I would love to do an RB swap...240sx's should have come with an inline six from the factory IMO...I can't wait to get this car

Did I mention it's completely stock btw? like no intake / exhaust anything lol

It's everywhere for a reason... IT WORKS! There isn't a better bang for buck engine than an LSx

Wow, some people are lazy inconsiderate assholes. Driving home from work today, come around a right hand turn only to see a pick-up truck driving at me in my lane, with clearly no intention of getting back in his lane. "WTF is this guy smoking?" is going through my head. Then I realize that the piece of shit did this just so he could pull up next to his mailbox and get his mail without getting his lazy ass out of his fucking truck. Seriously, WTF is going through these fucking idiots heads when they do shit like this? "I'm a fucking idiot so i'm gonna put myself in danger just so I don't have to walk my fat ass 20 feet to get the mail."

yeah...i wouldn't have moved over. i would have stopped in my lane

but people are just astounding. i see this kinda shit happen all the time while i'm working, they'll pull out of a gas station, and drive (wrong side of the road) into the next parking lot.
