The engine immobilizer is more than capable of preventing the theft of your car. Unless, under these two basic situations to be aware of:

First, if the car thief is capable of bypassing your immobilizer then they are probably capable of defeating a kill switch.

Second, assuming you have a manual FR-S/BZR, the thief would more likely roll in a flat bed trailer and simply put the car on it, instead. Half the time the cars are stolen in this fashion and then stripped for parts. I'm sure you have seen a few YouTube videos towing a car while parallel parked.

Provided that your car has a lojack, it's honestly one of the best countermeasure you can have. Right now, these cars are not a common theft item because the parts are specialized and hard to move quickly and the car itself is unique and easy to spot and track. Things like wheels (a shock-sensor connected to the car alarm is suitable for this) or bolt on parts would be the most common stuff to take because it would be the easiest to move and safest to sell.

Sorry for the loss of your CAI and believe me, @FiRSt and I know it first-hand(no pun intended). I could only suggest that you contact the manufacturer or seller about a serial number and initiate a Witch Hunt; because, as these cars become a synonymous name as the CIVICs early in the decade, the thief may even be lurking the forum for potential buyers contacting them through a PM and also read our conversations.

Well, you live in a much better neighborhood than most of us reside here in the Valley. Regarding wheels, @FiRSt and I have talked about using at least two set of wheel locks and may be a shock-sensor, if that's available from the factory/dealer for the FT86. Not familiar with any aftermarket but that is an option for the GT RX-8s.
