It's a shame this will cost more than just swapping R&P for the overpriced Cusco part.

How does one know whats 'needed'?
I dont have the engineering background, but what are the specs for OE axles and DS?
at what power level does changing the rear diff require shafts and axles? The only vehicle I have uprated DS and axles, and diff is my truck(did them myself so not new to this sort of work), but I am new to sports car diff modding 'standards'

This mod, in my opinion, isn't a matter of handling more power, its a matter of having multiple options to gear the car for its power band. The cusco ring and pinion is great if you are looking for shorter gears with more instant power response, especially for road race/ autox applications. But the reason I will be getting this is for drag. In a 400hp FRS trying to get down the 1320 as quick as possible, its a terrible situation to have to shift 1st and 2nd so quickly and then shift into 5th before crossing the traps. It's much more ideal, particularly in a high horsepower FI car, to have more time between gears and only have to use 4 of them instead of 5. On the flip side, having the longest gears you possibly can also will slow the car down. You have to test and find the best ratio that suits your setup.

This looks awesome. For it's going to come down to the price difference between this and the cusco final drive + carbon drive shaft. I like this much more, though, so I still might spring for it.

Curious---any advantage to launching in 2nd and shifting to 4th and then 6th? I've heard of some high powered STIs doing that. Some of you mention losing too much time shifting and I figured I'd mention it.

If flat foot shifting isnt fast enough buy a clutchless trans from liberty.

Im feeling that the R154 will be the most likely alternative from Marlin Crawler. I like this whole deal, just will be really expensive... IMO

This is pure speculation, but given the fact that fb had a driveshaft made for this kit I am going to guess a dogbox is being considered.

Could it be custom because it can handle more power and bolts up their 8.8 diff ? May not be transmission related.

Then again....it is FBM and they may be going all out.

I thought about that, but I feel like they would have just went with a traditional aluminum driveshaft if their only intention was making a complete kit. I don't think they would intentionally drive the cost of the kit up with a CF driveshaft knowing the transmission will be the weak link, unless they had plans to solve the issue.
