(5(quarts) times 7(dollars) + 12(high preformance oil filter) )
($47) x 11(amount of free services) = $517 in oil changes alone in 33k miles... its convenient too...

You wouldn't need to change your oil 11 times in 33k miles. Synthetic oil would be good for upwards of 5-6k miles. Even more depending on the quality of synthetic oil you use.

The traditional 3,000 mile oil change is all marketing and a waste of oil and money. Most cars are designed to go 5-10,000 miles before a change. Some BMW's even go 15k between oil changes. Ultimately it is up to you, but just a thought and save you some money. Obviously an engine oil analysis would be the best way to determine the right practice for you.

YMMV.

yeah but the average person doesnt drive their car as hard as i do on a daily basis nor do they track it and drag it like i do, its n in favor of having a healthy engine at 200k miles yeah i could go 12k miles on my celica's engine( i did this once with a oil color check every 500 miles after 6k) just to see how healthy my engine was and lets just say it wasnt all black yet but it was pretty damn good for an engine with 150k miles on it...

for those who smash the throttle every day, do an oil change at 3k if you love your car and plan on keeping it for a very long time...

for those who don't, full synthetic extended performance every 6-9k miles
