"Interesting" isn't the word I'd use. One look at the engine shows that the turbo would be about five inches below the surface of the road, if installed in a BRZ.

I realize we are separated by a common language, but I'd have thought exaggeration-for-effect would translate well.

You can see from your pictures that the turbo is three or four inches lower than the lowest point of the NA engine. That'd be three or four inches less ground clearance.

So, for everyone thinking they want to put the FA20 DIT in their BRZ, how will you get air to the intercooler?

Side Mount or replace stock airbox with a core.

So you can see why SUVs or big cars in general need a bit of help in every department of performance to retain driver comfort and luxury.

If you look back in 2009, Turbo and AWD was an "absolute NO" for the ideals they wanted to build into this car. If they wanted to build a car for competitive Motorsports it would be different. Instead they wanted to build a car that connects the driver to the road, and the performance requirements are at the bare minimum for that experience.
You just made me imagine a 2.5RS comeback

BRZ with AWD and Turbo...

Ah, but the hump in the middle of every 2014 Forester hood is there to make room for the duct.

Honestly, I like the FBM and Crawford turbo setups. Equal length headers, front mount turbo with very short piping to the front mount intercooler. It actually makes sense in this application, but I doubt Subaru would ever do something like that.
