i have 60 miles on the car and im in Tennessee for a business trip
cant wait till i hit the 1000 mile mark. I do miss the seats from the BMW as I am a pretty tall guy and the extended thigh support is a nice touch. but the brz, even if I cant rev it past 4k, is really damn nice... not as nervous as the cayman or as heavy as the bmw... and i was averaging 29 mpg with two more passengers and all of their luggage. |

Cool beans, man. Nice choice of colors :3
Yeah, I guess you get most of peak torque output between 3-4k rpm, and even if you could rev it out it sounds like you'd have to get past 5-ish to escape the torque dip anyway. It's really hard to limit yourself though-- the test drive I took was pure torture trying to keep it under 4k. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on mine... this summer I'll be bringing it out to socal and taking it out on all my favorite back roads. I seriously can't wait; it's gonna be a lot of fun. |

Have you considered buying a BRZ out of state?

. The major factor is the hand on the steering feel like you was back to drive a versa, corrola or something ! There is no where close to compare to the BRZ in this department.

The steering on BMWs isn't ~*awful*~, but its not as good as our cars. They certainly feel big and very heavy, especially over undulating road surfaces or when you're trying to brake them hard into a corner.

I got my BRZ because i wanted a car that handled well and was reliable. My BMW has spent at least double the time in the shop as compared to in the driveway. I believe I have had two transmissions, 5 or 6 brake swaps, DCT reprogramming, and the ECU was changed. If I didn't have a warranty those transmissions would have been 35k a piece. If you buy a BMW make sure you have PLENTY of warranty left or don't get it. As soon as the warranty is gone the car needs to be gone. |

Irvine guy here, yeah bmws are pretty ridiculously common. I was actually set on the 335i or the f30 328i before the frs/brz came out too. Honestly if you want the grin on your face as you are accelerating the twins won't do it for you. They are fun cars to drive but the 3 series is great as well and mod-ability has more potential. That said they dont usually last very long and many have HPFP problems which I am sure you are aware of. I think getting a used one is a headache waiting to come in 2 years.
Regarding the stealerships, I wouldn't pay over MSRP for any car which is why I ultimately went with the FRS (college rebate also put it 1000 lower as well). I'd say wait it out for a BRZ or just get an FRS and use the extra 3000 (4000 if you are a recent grad) and just mod whatever it however you like. Just don't expect much from performance mods unless you go FI.
