The torque is just kind of silly isn't it? I can't drive that car without getting this stupid, shit-eating grin on my face. Every time.

The Cayman also doesn't have rear pseudo-seats.

Yes, an LSD would be a high-priority mod for the 335. They really improve control of the tail-- even in a straight line :3

This. My dad got his for invoice + $600 for shipping from CO to CA. He wasn't the only one to do this with that dealer (Heuberger Subaru IIRC).

Thank you guys for all the input! I have driven so many cars to find what I want.. (Cayman S, boxster, BMW 328, 335, genesis coupe, miata, rx8, etc) and I am well aware of the problems that the 335s twin turbo motor possesses. I was dead set on the brz but after so many phone calls with the dealers I started to ask myself is the brz really worth the price that they are asking for. And since i have owned both a miata and a Wrx, I know what it's like to drive with decent power and without I must admit after driving the 335, I am hooked, and since BMW has addressed the hpfp issue, I am willing to bite the bullet should I not be able to find the brz for the right price. However, if gas becomes something like $6 a gallon (which may be a possibility within the next 4-5 yrs while I'm making the payment on whichever car), the brz just makes so much sense over the BMW. One thing interesting is that the insurance price (for me) is $5 a difference from a cayman s and the BMW 335i, and othe than the rear main seal issues on the Porsche, it's a more solid car than the BMW in terms of reliability. So, if a brz doesn't show up within my price range, I may just pull the trigger on the cayman. It's not like I wouldn't upgrade the wheels/tires/suspension on the brz anyways, so expensive tires and brake cost doesn't bother me.. Rather have the hardware to begin with. I'm still in love with the brz and its purpose, but from a value standpoint it's really hard to justify.

But I am being really partial to the Porsche because it has none of the equipments that I want.. But then it is a Porsche after all.

If his not covered by warranty yeah it's going to suck. But if he is then its cool. I paid 4500 for the platinum prepaid maintenace and extended warranty on my 2011. It even Includes wear and tear items like brake pads, wipers blades, wheels and tires.

I was driving my dad's 07 335i right before I picked up the BRZ. A whole different animal, very easy to cruise in and I found myself falling asleep during my commute.

If I were driving freeways everyday, all-day, I would get the 335i for sure (except gas mileage kinda sucks). But I think the freeway is boring, and I'd rather have a small lightweight car with less power that you feel comfortable with on backroads, than a bigger, heavier, cruiser with more power that's quiet and comfortable on the freeway. But that's just me.

Also, after two months of driving the BRZ, I drove the 335i around a bit again, and let me tell you, it was like I was driving a boat or something! Such a different feel.

My parent's have owned a 335i since new in 2007. It has been very reliable for them (there were some recalls obviously) but they haven't had to do anything except put tires on it and gas in it and drive. The car is driven all year round with no problems (dedicated winter tire/rim setup).

My dad was debating trading it in for the new 4 series coupe when it comes out, but he's had such a good experience with the car that he's not sure he wants to.

The 335i is in another league compared to a BRZ/FR-S, the power, the luxury, the NVH, the space are all significantly better than in my FR-S. The BRZ might be more fun to drive on a twisty back road, but the 335i will outpace it handily and be WAY more comfortable on the trip home on the highway.

The BRZ is a smaller more focused sports car, whereas the 335i is a more rounded sports coupe. Both are good but in different ways.

07 means any sort of extended coverage (if the vehicle had it) is up. If you aren't ballin' ass upper middle class, I'd suggest you look into a good aftermarket warranty or go with the BRZ. Ownership cost of a BMW after warranty will make you cry yourself to sleep at night.
