I was reading a review the other day where they said the edges of the floor mats unraveled and fell apart within their 2 month test period. So I don't think these issues are uncommon and I'm sure the warranty question has been brought up. |

You will be told that they are a wear item like wiper blades, tires and brake pads are. It's not the manufacturers fault you chose to drive with the particular style of shoes you do. I drive wearing a pair of Cole Hann driving shoes with a rounded heel. My FR-S mats look like new with 7,000 miles.

The floor mats probably dont fall under the "wear item" warranty, but I'd argue that they are defective and fall under "repairs at no charge". Wear Item Limited Warranty WEAR ITEM COVERAGE is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Items covered are brake pad/shoe linings, clutch linings, and wiper blades. Repairs at no Charge Defective parts will be repaired, or at the option of SOA or your Authorized SUBARU Dealer, replaced with a new or remanufactured parts without charge to you for labor and materials. More info from Subaru's warranty site...
Tires you noted before as a wear item is not included under the warranty, because they have their own manufacturer warranty. They say they do not cover "normal deterioration", but this amount of wear over 2,600 miles is excessive. The shoes I wear do not have a sharp edge and I mostly drive highway, so there isn't a lot of movement. What is Not Covered: Parts Covered By Other Warranties These warranties do not cover any parts, such as tires, which are covered by their own separate warranties. Maintenance and Adjustment Services; Normal Deterioration These warranties do not cover the cost of parts or labor involved in performing any normal maintenance services. There is also no coverage for normal deterioration or fading of paint, soft trim, cosmetic and appearance items. Source: https://www.subaru.com/my-subaru/warranties-2013.html |

The BRZ mats do seem a bit thin, and obviously, it's possible, but I almost want as to ask "How is that even possible in so short a time?!" Do you drive in size 15 combat boots or something?!
![]() Seriously, though, does it rain a lot by you, is your driveway muddy? I dunno, it looks like you have some stains and wear on the actual carpet as well.

I drive in these, they are soft rubber with a somewhat rounded heal, definitely not a sharp edge:
![]() It is winter, so I have tracked some moisture in. But I alway knock the dirt, snow, water off of my shoes before I place them on the mat. The dirt/stains in the photos aren't as bad as they look (iPhone photo with LED flash at night makes it look much worse). |

I could hear the stock mats rubbing/squeaking from my rounded heel dress shoes...there were some wear marks before I switched them out at 4K miles, but nothing that bad. Cheap mats are cheap.
