I've been welding my own exhausts out of 304 for a few years now. Even in road salt loving New England nothing I've made looks like that. I would say either it's not really 304 or it got contaminated at some point in the manufacturing process.

I do think the manufacture should replace it, not the vendor.

I do everything I can to built a 100% USA product, even if it means paying a bit more for material. I take pride in it.

True statement. A lot things that I own come from China. Including my Air Jordans. Just gotta gauge the quality BEFORE buying anything these days.

ITT: People compare MIL-SPEC/commercial airplane components to a set of sneakers.

Sure sucks and I would return due to poor craftsmanship. I don't care what grade it is. 2 weeks is BS period.

The TRD axle-back on my 08 XB was still rust-free after 6 years, 70k miles, no garage and lots of exposure to road salt. It looks like your tips are made of "Chinese grade 304" which is something else entirely.

So does Eagle One polish, but still annoyed this happens..

Nicer weather now and haven't noticed the rust spots, yet. Car washes may end up causing them again...

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll likely find another set of tips and have a local shop weld them on... Still does sound nice, which was the main point, I guess.
