And look at how quickly the turbo miata was pulled off the market. And the NC miata making as much power as the mazdaspeed miata. I've had a chance to play with those tiny cars: the turbocharger is an 18lb/min unit and even with the wastegate hose unplugged, it will not make more than 1psi more boost.
The dip in the FR-S/BRZ is still a mystery right? Nobody -really- knows why it's there and how to get rid of it (short of FI). There seems to be quite a bit of headroom in this motors. What if the STi version isn't FI but has a longer RPM range with more power up top, while sacrificing torque under 4k. Or they can refine their variable valve timing and lift system and have really broad torque that carries to beyond 7400RPM. When the FR-S/BRZ was first released, I posited that the Legacy low mount turbo setup will fit under. I STILL think that it will: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...793#post225793 - budi |

Torque dip is somewhat acoustic, a little bit of ECU and maybe the drop off of the port injection. Nameless and P&L have both built headers that take away most to all of the dip on pump gas and E85 respectively. both make ~190whp as well although nameless does it without E85. |

Not with that exhaust manifold design, it'll go too low and hit the current undertray. Japan office already tried a test fit. Legacy (and now the current Forester) engine is much higher in the engine bay, mainly because of the AWD transmission of course. There isn't as much space in front of the engine of the twins compared to the forester/legacy either, that's why our setup is offset.

the convo went something like so. "Nice car, but you should've got the subaru version." FR-S owner: Why? I liked the FR-S's styling better "But the Subaru version is AWD and Turbo." FR-S owner: No it isn't, they're the same car underneath the body "No they aren't. I know. My friend helped develop it." I found this incredibly hilarious. My response to the guy would be. "What do you think BRZ stands for?" but several good points have been made. why worry about it and just buy a WRX, they cost just about the same but you get more space, AWD, and Turbo so why get all huffed up about the BRZ?

That the newer WRX will feature the BRZ/FRS FA engine so I dont know where this "2014 'wrx powered' brz" is coming from.

Here is a device to gauge the validity of the turbo claims.

Yeah after he invented the flat 4 in the late 1800's with Chrysler he became my poker buddy haha Some people are too much but I like to help them with their facts from what little bit I know instead of being an ass to them. I really want the FR-S/BRZ crowd to be know for being the more mature behaving crowd of import owners. I come from muscle cars and Italian cars and after years of hearing how much better a civic is than my Ferrari 308 or 83 Camaro Berlinetta I had a bad taste in my mouth for the import crowd. The FR-S/BRZ group has really shown me the knowledge and maturity that is in the import crowd.

Yeah I actually took a guy on the forum to look at another one today because my old one was a money pit. In all reality if you are patient you can find a running (not perfect just running) 308 for $10k - $15k I only paid $12k for mine and it was not working all that good but I got it going and was able to make a tiny profit off it.
Edit: No i didn't buy the one today it has rusted out doors holes in the front bumper and was missing parts and too top it all off they said open to offers but wanted $26k I didn't want to insult him with a low ball offer because he obviously loved the car and thought it was worth more than it really is. No gtb in red with black interior
If your thinking of the 84 for $34k that one might be worth it. It is in showroom new condition from what I saw. Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2 Last edited by Accurate Race Shop; 03-05-2013 at 09:16 AM. |
