Dan welded in a thick piece of 4" diameter pipe cut in half to strengthen up those areas around the tips. Hes says its solid.

No but seriously, the point of the diffuser is to smooth out airflow under the car and that diffuser needs to be as flat as possible. An exhaust like that would defeat the purpose. Also, it looks more exotic this way! :happy0180:

By the way, picked up some speed this time around at the track. I am halfway through the day. Car just hooks up. Can't lose it even if I tried. Running consistent 2:12's at Thunderhill bypass. My best last time was 2:19 over the top.
So it's working really well for your FR-S...nice! How much did it cost for this diffusor setup? Maybe use the Elise dimensions as a guide and make one from scratch...hmm. Actually I'd like id more like this Elise, as it would work well for putting the reverse light/reflector unit above the exhaust:

As there is already a hole in the diffusor that is making it less efficient than it could be otherwise, a single or twin downturn exhaust tip bacially flush with the opening will not mess with the aerodynamics any more than the hole already is, be really exotic looking, and shed even less weight... As you have the flange setup after the differential for the rear dual tip routing it would be easy to fab up a single downturn section to match the with opening in the diffusor.

Are you going to seal up the hole and make the diffusor like lotus did for the 111S Elise?

And any plans for having working reverse lights?

Lol yes but overkill in my opinion. Once the car becomes my dedicated stripped out racecar sure! Form follows function

Ummm...that's super badass...

How much fab work was required to make this work? It looks like it fits rather well with little modification.

Looks great! I love the "thinking outside the box" being put to work here! I think if the "beauty rings" were silver or polished, it would look perfect!

did you just buy this thing?

http://shop.britishracinggroup.com/E...G-H111E3ED.htm

and then cut the grey plastic out of the bumper, hang the diffuser from tabs i see in the first pic and then add a mesh screen?

My only worry with this design is that the exhaust heat will mess up the paint/bumper because the tips are so much closer to the bumper skin. I would be more keen on having the exhaust exit through that hole on the middle of the diffuser, and seeing as how their shop isn't too far from me I may ask them what they can do in that regard.

Your car is bad ass.

It is track tested ... no melting of anything. Bumper doesn't even get warm.

Dan knows his stuff and he even quieted my concern for the bumper melting when he was building it.
