Chirp in SoCal Advise

I noticed chirping in my FR-S and want to get it fixed. I don't want to go to a dealer thats never done it before though. Has anyone else had the chirp fixed? If so, which dealership did you get it done at?

It's normal but if its bugging you that much change gas stations I believe using shell 91 gas kills the chirp noise here and there

everyone thinks the chirping is the fuel pump but its actually an electrical problem. you can adjust it with the volume knob on your stereo, just keep turning up the volume until the chirping is gone

I second this. Out of Unocal 76, Chevron, and Shell, Shell has been quiet. Crickets are usually the worst in the heat of summer.

I second this also, especially if you have upgraded to the OEM Audio Plus system.

I was just saying this in the general FR-S section, I've been using Chevron with hardly any chirps. I tried Shell 91 and it gave me a lot of chirping, switched back to Chevron and it was gone.

I've used only Shell up to now, and the chirping has been consistent. Maybe I'll try Chevron.

I've honestly forgot about the chirping noise.

I believe a few people have gone to Longo for that fix though.

There's really no point fixing this at this time. Everyone I know that's gone in, all of them had the chirping come back (basically means its not a fuel pump issue like they sat it is, and they have no idea what's causing it). you'll just have to live with it. Honestly, as others are saying, you'll hardly notice its there after a while.

The noise is the fuel pump, everyone knows that. They replace it with the exact same part and the chirps come back...its from fuel and lack of internal lubrication in the pump, aka its normal, but no one know what the long term effect of the lack of lubrication might have...Replacement means the chirp goes away for about 300 miles, until enough of the US gas has gone through and worn the lubricant off of the part that chirps....the pump runs at 2400psi iirc...

Well, if loss of lubrication in the fuel pump is the problem. Try premixing with Idemitsu or Royal Purple in the gas tank(4 oz/fill-up). It burns off clean and won't clog your sock filter, fuel lines, injectors, or OEM Cat-converter and always fill up with 91 oct.

Why would you use ethanol on these cars anyway?
