Yeah, sound like a canbus issue.. my evo X was very picky and would often throw canbus communications errors... I don't recall if i had issues with ecutek on that one.... I probably flashed that one 60 times on ecutek before i sold it....but that is an apples to oranges comparison.

I hope it was just a fluke for the OP's sanity

FWIW i have heard of things as simple as converting to LED lighting causing canbus issues.....

I have flashed mine over 40 times now with out issues like yours and I do not think your problem was voltage or the cable... more a driver stability issue. Could be a canbuss issue though and if that is the case i would suspect it will always be an issue.

You sir, have an amazing amount of patience and for that, I bow to you.. Namaste.
When we first made the kit we didn't take all the photos that were needed to to make a decent install guide. We have since taken a completely stock BRZ apart to make a complete install guide from start to finish.

We admit the bov valve spring issue was our fault and we over nighted everything at our expense to get it right. Every company makes mistakes, but its how you handle it for the customer that matters. We will never hide from a problem and will never fake that we are perfect.

Chris asked me if there was anything that he wrote that I didn't want to be in his thread and I told him no. Things like this happens, and that lets me know what to do to make sure it does not happen again.

We always try to go out of our way to help a customer before and well after they have purchased the product, that I can guarantee.

Good job guys, no matter how many times you do it parts still get mispackaged or pulled wrong sometimes. Hopefully everything works out with ecutek so you don't have any more issues.

LJ @FullBlown ALWAYS goes out of his way to make things right and take care of customers. I sell their products with confidence because I know that if things do go wrong, I don't have to worry about phone calls being dodged or emails being ignored.

Fair enough, i appreciate you guys not trying to make excuses. As has been said, things do go sideways sometimes, it's how you correct that determines success.

King Tut, i hope your trouble are behind you so you can enjoy your ride without issue.

I am fairly confident of that. I purchased the kit knowing that I would not be getting complete instructions. I figured it is just a turbo kit, I shouldn't need any instructions. Really the only thing I needed them for was the modifications to get the fuel pump to fit, which most of the guys on this forum that have posted about their experiences also had issues getting the fuel pump installed correctly the first time. The rest was all pretty obvious as to how it went together.

As to the EcuTek issue, it will be interesting to see if the tuner has issues flashing my car when I take it to get a custom dyno tune.

Edit: BTW, Nice write-up!
I bet they could make one if you really wanted to, but it would take quite some pipe/hose work to get it all way back to the intake on the other side of the turbo and a switch to the TiAL QR BOV.

The HKS SC kit looks like someones backyard garage attempt. They could have done such a better job with the piping, less silicone couplers etc. I guess as long as it works well...

I have to agree, but I'm not sure if this is their production version as I've seen pictures of two different setups. I was merely pointing out the long hose they used to recirculate the BOV.

Heading into a FBM install myself in a few weeks, the thing I'm taking away from this is how good you were treated. Knowing I'll hit some road blocks, it's reassuring to know there will be someone to help me.

Thanks to the OP for their story...

Yep, LJ will definitely be there to help you if you run into any road blocks, and I am here to help as well. I know the kit like the back of my hand now.
