I was going to ask the same thing, but @sieglapj and I were plenty sideways (at one point I spun twice)!

My times were crap because of my relative lack of experience with RWD on a skidpan and this turned out being more of a fact finding mission finding the limits...

I reckon with better tyres and a bit more experience...

Also, I noticed that I could still feel and hear the electronics trying to reign in the car. I could not get everything off.

Unless you use the handbrake or dip the clutch it's pretty hard to get the tail out (assuming you're following the course and going for a decent time, not just driving round in 1st gear showboating).
Ironically it would take far less skill to slide the FWD car as you just pull the handbrake and floor your way out of it. If you dip the clutch on the 86 you'd probably have to be seriously quick to catch it!
As the instructor Etienne pointed out on my first run, before I realised how to switch of the traction control properly... I wasn't quick enough with the counter steering...

The 86's front end was massively grippy in the slalom (at one point I think I was matching the overall winning Mini ) and only struggled in the 180 deg turns with some understeer - and if too liberal with the handbrake and throttle, way too much oversteer...

Had I had my old twincam RXI, I probably would have done better - I had a silver one as pictured. Brought back sweet memories... But I relished the new challenge...

I held both down till the VSC light disappeared... It was plenty loose...

But I agree the VSC was always kinda there...

Apparently it disables the ABS aswell, that scares me in a car with more than 80kW and energy saving tyres...

Anybody tried the "pedal dance"? Apparently disables everything, some sort of diagnostic mode.
