Im not trying to replace the harness for a PandP harness; Im trying to make it work with the one we have. I almost guarantee we can do this, in steps ofcourse. First, find the power wires and find the right connector on the unit, then finding the right ports for the wires. It sounds hard, and im sure it is, but in the same breath this is a great project and I will find a way.

Im not sure; somebody should check and see.

also, does anybody have better, high quality pictures to the actual connecters that go into the stock FRS climate unit? if not, ill try to take some soon.

Yes the premium BRZ HVAC swapped to the dual climate from the limited will be the exact same issue. The Premium BRZ with non-dual climate has the same harness we do.

So you're just doing this for the sake of doing it? I just don't see any reason if it isn't functional.

It should work, it just wont have the "true dual" climate; It will do everything our stock FRS unit will do, just in a GT86 form. And thats fine with me. What I dont think is worth it is a WHOLE harness for $800+ just so the passenger can have a different temp then the driver. Also, a BRZ Limited/GT86 ECU would have to be installed, along with the vents...so for about $200, im willing to help to the solution.

I have a feeling the FRS ECU will work. Also what vents are you talking about? The little servo's? All the venting behind the dash is the same between the two. You realize none of the digital stuff is going to work because there is NO wiring for it. It just seems like a short cut that I personally wouldn't take. I'd rather have all the pieces and make it all functional.

if I have a few grand to make it fully functional, I would. But I dont. I know I can make it fully light up, just when you adjust the temp, the numbers will move on the "Auto" side. It just wont be true "dual climate". There are, in theory, TWO climate wheels on the GT86 version instead on ONE on the FRS...as for the vents, I was talking about dual climate vents that would work with the ECU and the correct harness

There are no "dual climate vents" that work with the ECU and harness. And there is no theory... The GT86 is like the FRS. They have a base with the same HVAC as us and the upgraded models with dual climate. Both have a different harness. I'm going to just end it here. Good luck with your install...

How are you addressing the difference between the mechanical vent selector in the frs and brz premium vs motorized vent selector in the limited?

We aren't saying don't do it. I for one will be doing it also. Most of us just want it to work the way it's suppose to. To me that adds value. I can see in the future when people sell their cars and its done, people will be more willing to pay a bit more when it's done correctly. It drives me nuts when people do hacked up conversions.

@Sco2355 do you have the dual unit yet?

and for the next 5-7 years, this is my car. When it is time to sell/trade it, all id have to do is put the stock unit back in and sell the dual if somebody needs it, unless a private sale the new owner is (and will be) happy with my work.
