Interesting to hear it might be a Canadian thing. Might be why all the cars my family has owned have the feature.

To those who don't live in a place with winter conditions, you dont have a clue what you speak of. Running out of fluid is not a joke. It is not just a dirty window, you actually cant see where you are going if it builds up. If you are on an interstate and 10 miles from a gas station, you are in trouble. Pretend it was a car your daughter drove; I don't ever expect my daughter will know how to add any fluids to a car, so it would be a good thing that she has an indication that have it tended to before it becomes an emergency.

You don't expect your daughter will be able to pour a liquid into a container before she reaches driving age?

You don't expect you'll be able to teach her? Seriously. That's gotta be a pretty sad thought process. I hope your son is more intelligent.

I'd teach her not to be lazy and to check it with gas fill ups. Not that complicated of a process.

When I lived in Ohio we had tons of snow. We carried a bottle in the trunk and refilled as needed. Again, this isn't rocket science.

I bet you cant take your cell phone apart and fix it either. In my life, you would have to be a complete idiot not to be able to do that.

So what was your point?

My point was that if your daughter lacks the physical capacity or mental fortitude to add wiper fluid, perhaps she should not be driving to begin with... If you're just unwilling to teach her because she's female, well then I guess your point stands alone.

As for your cell phone: I'll take that bet... I knew that engineering degree would come in handy one day! It would seem to me though that the idiot would be the one who chose such a standard to judge others. I'm sitting here having a drink with a former classmate of mine. He's a Neurosurgeon now. He admits to not having a clue how to disassemble a cell phone. He's a real bonehead.

Some people just don't care about stuff like that. I tried teaching my ex gf to check one tire for a slow leak she had and she never checked it and kept calling me for help, and she didnt want to fix it asap because it wasnt urgent.

If you're not into cars just remembering to occasionaly check fluids and oil level is a pretty hard thing to do apparently, even worst when the weather is shitty 4 months a year...

Or they can be stupid.

I can't believe it. This is the second thread where people get all pissed because of a "winshield washer light issue". The maturity shines bright.

If she doesn't want to learn then just strap a bottle in the trunk. Walk her through refilling it when needed. If she's that lazy/careless than the idiot light isn't going to make her rush home and deal with it anyways.

I had an ex-girlfriend who had a 2" crack in her windshield that she did nothing about.. It grew to 10" and still didn't care. Her co-worker said her camry was like a drug dealer car. Didn't even bother to put the handbrake on when she parked the car. At one point she didn't even put the car into park and demanded that I help her because she couldn't start the car until her brother in-law put it back into park for her. I stopped caring since she couldn't be bothered after I reminded her countless times to put the car in park and put the parking brake on, take her car to an auto-glass shop and have the insurance company pay for it with a small deductible. Penny wise, pound foolish. She got angry at me warning her, I got tired of her getting angry at me because I'm reminding her that it's for her own safety.

Some people need to be spoon fed and can't do shit for themselves. I've learned this when I was at a much younger age. I dumped her useless ass after she started complaining that someone younger than her is in a higher position and telling her what to do.
