I was going to use the lfx36l3-bs12 for my DD. It's 5 pounds and has 540 CCA.

Man, that's a great option for a DD. Love that CCA rating at that weight.

That was the intended purpose for many of them. That and jet-skis, snowmobiles, scooters, etc. Heck, the first lightweight battery I ever used in a car was a $20 garden tractor battery I put in a Dodge Neon 12+ years ago. Weighed 15 lbs, half what the stock battery weighed.

Like others have said save your $$ on the carbon, not a whole lot of weight savings and seriously expensive. Clean the trunk out(30lbs)..lightweight battery(15ish)..washer fluid(5ish).. Back Seats(30 lbs).. Theres 80 lbs with your only expense being the battery, and youll definetly feel a performance improvement especially if your autoxing. A good place to spend your money is light weight wheels, 4 of those and your looking at a total off 100lbs combined with that above.

Your aluminium hood is lighter than most CF options within any sane price range.

Was the same story with my old evo.

Carbon fenders prolly would be heavier. Chopping up the roof can compromise the structural integrity of the car if not done by a skillful person whose done it a lot and would probably weight close to stock.

Although the seats are really nice, they weigh about 40-50 lbs each, I cant remember the exact number. A good racing seat weighs up to 7 lbs which will save you roughly 35-40 lbs on each side.

Other options I could think of:

-Rotors
-Underdrive pulleys(Power steering/Water pump)
-hmm

Want to thank everyone for their input, the battery replacement I had no idea on and I think once I move to static weight loss it will be my first change. The back seats I'm gonna keep ATM because I do have dates sitting in this car, so I don't want bare metal back there, anyone know of a good delete that keeps the reduction in noise like when the seats are there, or a DIY that I can follow like a sheep?

Also the cloth cover under the hood, that's there as a thermal blanket for the paint on the top side?

The carbon trunk states it's a 5lb drop from stock, I'm wondering if that's true because the lack of carpeting (if that's the case I can just decarpet the stock one) or maybe they weighed it without the spoiler on it? Anyone know or confirm?

If we're just looking at drivetrain. Weight reduction is that all I can do, pulley, flywheel/clutch, drive shaft, rotors, and wheels?

Always thankful for the support and data mining,
That automatician guy.

^There is a full carbon rear seat delete option. Looks pretty amazing but not sure on how it handles the sound reduction duties.

The blanket on the hood is for multiple purposes. It's used as you stated to reduce the temps the hood itself has to see thus preventing any damage to the paint. It's also used to help deaden the sound being produced by the engine. Yes, you can remove it. I've removed it on all my cars as I hate the looks of them when the hood is popped. You shouldn't have to worry about the hood paint - it will not get hot enough to hurt the paint. The sun will cause more damage than the engine running.

If you want to make the hood weight as much as the CF option I'd suggest cutting out the webbing and installing a pair of aerocatch hood latches. The webbing and padding removal should net a few pounds.

As for the trunk - best weight savings would be to install a FAL rear window. A lexan window will shave a huge amount of weight off the rear.

Other lightweight components - seats, control arms, coilover suspension, removed or replaced bumper support beams, lightweight exhaust including header.

Delete the car's entire stereo system, A/C w/all under dash components removed. Remove the heater core and windshield washer setup.

Another potential savings - install manual windows.

This is one of my favourite area's to modify on a car - some excellent potential with a lighter weight car!

For the backseats, if you want to go cheap, just remove all the seatbelt hardware. That's probably a good 5-10lbs right there.
