LOL... not trying to be an internet tough guy...
Everyone has rights to an opinion. I guess I can't blame or knock a guy/or group of people who are mad cause he revved up his car. I just didn't see a problem, and felt the need to defend his choice, only because I could see myself doing the same thing, but not to be an ass to anyone, just to show I like someone's car...

I lived in SoCal for 10 years before I moved to the southeast, so I know what you mean about the Laguna area, it's a gorgeous locale for a cruise or photo shoot (now that's an idea!). However, we don't know what environment the driver is coming from or used to. Put yourself in his shoes and say you are used to the paranoia of living in east Compton. I would have definitely been on the defensive noticing a ride that is tailing me and then rolls up next to me revving his whip. I would just say for your safety, as we are all a product of our experiences, to be mindful the next time you want to admire a clean ride. Unless you are in a situation where the other driver can clearly see that your intentions are completely innocent, I would just take note in your mind and move on. Edit: P.S. I don't think you are an ***hole. Last edited by kthxbai; 02-05-2013 at 05:21 PM. |

He probably thought you were chasing him down to try and street race. Not the best approach, but not the finest reaction either.

OPs approach was horrible. you dont just speed up blasting at someones door then rev your engine. if someone did that to me i would obviously think they wanted to run. best approach would be at a stop light with your windows down. just give it a little rev. i always give them the little point at their car then thumbs up and convo happens sometimes. i would avoid revving at any muscle cars if i were you.

To OP, just ignore them or be ready for those who mis-interpret your 'revs'... This thread may have been 'jacked' from the beginning... Eric G (aka Massengill Hot Lava) |

It actually said this..." Rev ur shit up dude, if you did that to me I would have looked over and read your intentions... if you gave me a thumbs up, I would have smiled and gave you one back... maybe thats SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY vs WEST COAST DOUCHE-BAGGERY...." Not every west coast person is a douche... just the ones who get all butt hurt over someone revving up their engine. I try to speed up to admire a persons car... but not at the expense of endangering my life or anyone else, if I can't catch up reasonably then I won't bother with it. I know that's a bit of an oxymoron.

Think of it this way, you are both "tuners". If you notice his car, there is a damn good chance he notices your car. Just drive up next to him, look over, and give him the nod (or thumbs up). I see that as showing respect, and I doubt you would ever get a negative reaction from that. Sometimes it's pretty funny because it'll be a muscle car and they will have a surprised look on their face because an import is giving them props.
I don't particularly care for people that rev their engine at me, or feel the need to fly by me. I actually had a nice sport bike behind me a couple weeks ago. I guess he thought I didn't know he was there, and he wanted me to see his bike, so he passes me over a DOUBLE YELLOW line. I literally turned my head to the right just so he could see that I didn't want any part of him and his stupidity. The funny thing is he didn't pass anyone else like that. He was content being in front of me. |
