1. Personally I think the BRZ looks better than the FRS. BRZ IMO has a more mature, subtle look.
2. The HU encompasses BT/Audio/GPS in a single unit
3. The materials used in the interior of the BRZ seems to be better than the FRS
4. I preferred the BRZ premium seats to the FRS all cloth seats.
5. BRZ can come in WRB and FRS don't and honestly its the only color I like on it.
6. Not to be a badge elitist, but I'd rather not be associated with the Scion crowd. People get two completely different images in there head when you say you own a Scion or you own a Subaru. I'd rather have the latter.

All in all the BRZ just fell that bit better and that bit more special and considering they are willing to take money off of it and scion isn't, I don't really see the point in by in an FRS other than you think it looks better than the BRZ.

If they would have brought the Toyota GT86 over that is similarly equipped like a BRZ I would have considered it more seriously.

Lastly other than fog lights, the silver interior pieces and maybe heated seats, there really isn't anything on the Limited I wanted. I couldn't justify spending that much more just for those.

positive. i have the premium with the factory options I listed and not the limited. and got vip pricing, so it was about 25k. so it was cheaper than all the scions on the lot for me.

Gotcha. That is, however, an exception as most people will be able to get the Scion for less $$$.

I used to have a WRX and I had my heart set on a limited once I saw it and read all the features it had. I then had a toss up between wants and needs and then I decided I "want" the BRZ limited, so I opted to get the FR-S because it was cheaper and I could deal with it. Then I shopped around and found a FR-S with a few options for $26,250. Dealer never followed up and I grew impatient. Heard great things about Clint at Heuberger Motors and contacted him. Ended up getting a limited cheaper than the FR-S thanks to Clint

Mainly though:
Brand loyalty
Better interior
I like the exterior better
HID's (never had then from factory)

Honest question, just because I really don't know. Is there a difference between the projectors on the FRS and the BRZ? I know the headlights are different, but are the projectors.

Reason why I ask is because I see factory HID's as being one of the common reasons to pick the BRZ. It took me 10 min and $35 to install HID's in my FRS.

I'm really not trying to start an argument and I'm not trolling, I really am curious if there is a difference.

We don't have a chrome housing, we get nifty little glow rings on the headlights, I can adjust my brightness with a little knob inside, aftermarket hids can be spotty.

But that's not HID's. That's the headlights themselves. The factory HID's are the bulb system itself, no?

And what do you mean by spotty for the aftermarket HID's? Just reliability?

That plus the LED running lights make up 70% of why I wanted the BRZ over the FR-S.. the other 30% consists of the seat cloth, the standard NAV, and optional rear spoiler (at the time I bought it).

I was reading a few posts in this thread and was curious as to why, when some say how scion is an iffy brand or just not wanting to own a scion. There isn't anything "scion" about the car just the badges. I can understand the styling differences (which is one of the reasons why I choose the scion) and the fancy interior features, but they are still the same car made by the same people with different badges.

All these reasons for buying the BRZ over FRS are great and I agree with them all. But it really is disappointing for people who want to stay OEM that Subaru does not offer any of the STI parts that are available in Japan. At least Scion offers the TRD options through the dealer. I know the STI parts are available through japanparts and other sites, but it's not the best options for those who want the convenience of a US dealer-offered option.

Same, and no scions were available.

HID Projectors
Navigation for barely more $$$
Nicer interior
Better brand image (retain resale value in long run IMO)
Led light strip in front
Didnt have to pay $300 more to get pearl white

I think it's mainly the brand image. For example, I wanted the BRZ because of brand loyalty (Previous WRX owner). But I also wanted it because I feel that Subaru has a more mature audience. Scion owners are generally high school kids or college students. When you tell someone you drive a Scion they think that you're "cheap," but when you say you drive a Subaru, you seem to have paid more. Little do they know it's only 3k difference.

I just think Scion = cheap brand image.

I see, well I guess as long as you made the choice between the two and are happy with it that's all that really matters. I went with the scion based on the looks, and opposing most on here, the lack of a fancy interior...not really taking into account the the brand's image. I think of it more as a Toyota/ Subaru more than a Scion though.

But it is mostly correct in saying the scion is for the "younger" crowd, I myself fall into the college aged class.
