Does the brz come standard with a short shifter? also keen to know if the ride hide the same as stock 86 looked lower, so prob lowering springs standard?
I drove 86 and BRZ back to back a few times and must have nearly driven dealers mad - had both on order, eventually decided on BRZ as I prefer the more 'taught' feeling of steering, but difference is minimal below limits....

Ride height same, gearboxes etc same - grill & interiors slightly different and spring rates slightly different, but cars are "twins".

I suppose I chose Scubi as I already have a Toyota (Prado) and BRZ will be more unusual and Subaru dealers should have better understanding of what is basically a Subaru platform and engine...

I wish i could take my 86 to subaru for service, so far i haven't really been impressed by Toyota dealers' knowledge of the car. Whereas the subaru people seem to be passionate about their cars and their engines

They sell a total of about 50 cars each month so I reckon they've got a lot more time to be passionate.

one of my colleagues swears by his subarus and the dealer treats him like family
(and not the type of family you wish you could deny you have

Haha yep, that's my point - at Subaru they're not nearly as busy as Toyota so they should be able to give you the "personal touch".

Just a pity the Subaru dealership here in Nelspruit closed (the rumours say because of mismanegement) otherwise I would probably still have at least one. I loved my Forester!

That's the flipside of the coin I guess - there are less than 10 Subaru dealerships in the country if I'm not mistaken?

Popped into Toyota this morning.
The 86 is no longer the hype in the camp, it's all about the Auris now. Reason being is all 86 coming in are taken with a huge waiting list, so no need to concentrate on what has been sold almost 1 year waiting list as I am told.

Maybe the BRZ will get buyers whom won't wait for the 86...

That is a chance but people buy Toyota as it is one of the last cars to hold its resale value (not sure how as they definitely aren't as good as they used to be) whereas Subaru I don't think has the same reputation unless it is the STI models...

Also most existing Subaru owners might not be interested in the BRZ based on the fact that it doesn't have their trademark AWD system.

Want to test drive the new Auris... slightly curious...

They look like pretty great cars. Scrutinised a few of them when I went to pick up my baby

I doubt the waiting list for the BRZ will be any shorter...

Had a brief look at the cheaper model in a Shopping centre, curious to see how it drives. Let's hope some of the 86 genes have been passed across...
