I see the potential yeah. This car is pretty freaking great and I don't think anyone else will make a worthy competitor anytime soon. There just isn't a cheap way to do it since this platform is so thoroughly engineered to be an affordable sports car. You can't easily turn an econobox or massmarket platform into something this light, fun, cheap and good looking. I wonder if toyota/subaru are even making money on these.
All that said, I'm not sure I consider mazda miatas classics. They are awesome cars too with little to no real competition throughout their production. |

there is a certain irony in your post since the very same company that wrote the article we are talking about called the miata "The best two-seat sports car ever built and an ideal first collector car" |

i dont think that the numbers really play too much into what makes cars classics. things like beetles, mustangs, corvettes, and the like are all there. i agree with your thoughts on the ae86 and 280z though. thats a pretty early miata. i got rid of my 94 for school and now that im done, i just picked up a 90. ever have issues with the snc? |

This news item was seen on TV last week also.
It's just a prediction....like predicting a team will win the Super Bowl. The BRZ / FRS might be a classic in 25 years...it might not be. Who cares really. We drive them now because we like them is all that matters. IMO. .. |

I think the chances are pretty good. Depends on how many they make though. Looks like Subarus will be quite rare, but who knows if a collector will care whether or not they get the Scion vs the Subaru.
