Mine was mounted at the dealer exactly the same and I've had no issues. Looks 100X better than any of the relocating options imo...

I went with the zip tie method also. It looks like this.

You can see my mini 'how to' in the post below.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...7&postcount=63

I have since zip tied the plate holder from horizontal zip ties to vertical zip ties.

That actually looks really good. Although I don't see the big deal about two drilled holes and I'd rather have it secured with screws anyway. That does look really good though. My joke was more pointed towards those who just zip tie it right to the grill...looks ghetto...and I've seen it here.

I vowed I would only put the front plate on if I got a "no front plate" ticket. Well, it just happened, and I will now be sporting a front plate The ticket will be dropped once I put the front plate on.

I think I will be drilling through the grill, like the above. Absolutely no way I'll be going through the bumper... Does anyone know how much a front grill costs so I know what kind of damage I'm doing? It can't be much. I could always replace the grill if I move to my neighboring state of PA, which doesn't require a front plate. Does anyone think air flow will be restricted in any significant way with this set up? Are we allowed to trim our plates down to just show the numbers?

I have a friend that put his plates on the bottom of his grille on his FRS and he bought parts from a hardware store and just made his own bracket and stuff and I dont think (think) he drilled

So you can try getting a little creative and maybe you can figure something out since it sucks to drill into it

I've only had my Scion FR-S for three months. I got my first ticket because I don't have the front license plate. The dealer never mentioned anything about drilling holes. Should I pay the ticket or go to the dealer? I live in California.

Welcome to .... the forum .......

Do you have the front plate .... ??

If so, I suggest you put it on.

If not, get one from the DMV.

Is it a "fix it" ticket .. ??

If not, I reckon you will have to pay the ticket.

I don't see what the dealer has to do with it ... ??

Lesson learned .. ??

Thank you.

I don't have the front plate. I'll have to go to the DMV. I thought the dealer was supposed to ask me if I wanted the front frame. That's what I read online since it's state law.

The ticket isn't that much, but it annoyed me because I didn't know. I don't know how I didn't know that the front plate is required. haha
