I call shenanigans on the Turbo model until we hear it from Subaru.

What we don’t understand is why Subaru is trying to offer three versions of the BRZ within 100 horsepower, but then again, we’ll probably be left in the shadows with this question.
As a reminder, the 2013 Subaru BRZ has been officially presented at the 42nd edition of the Tokyo Motor Show, being designed as a joint project between Subaru and Toyota Motor Corporation. The 2013 Subaru BRZ is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine which is identically tuned as the one found on the Toyota GT 86, developing a total output of 197 horsepower at 7.000 rpm and a peak torque of 151 lb-ft available at 6.600 rpm. Power is being sent through the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission with a short stroke shift level. An optional six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifts is also available."

well im going to bed and praying to god this is legit.
That article is BS. Motorward initially claimed the same thing before being edited. It cites a Motortrend article that states "Subaru Confirms Turbocharged Version of BRZ Engine" and that it's unknown which vehicle(s) will utilize it. The next WRX is the obvious choice, and perhaps it'll make its way into the BRZ as well.

"When asked if any of Toyota’s impeding versions — including a speculated supercharged model as revealed by lead engineer Tetsuya Tada (pictured above) — will rival the rumored higher-output Subaru BRZ STI that’s supposedly being crafted by Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the engineer smiled, nodded, and responded vaguely, “We will keep up.”"

I would say it is to be expected of an STI variant..it's Subaru, it's a sports model. WHEN is the big question, and also the name. Considering the name BRZ is different from usual Subaru faire (SVX comes to mind although) I wonder if it actually would be called STI, or BRZ-t or who knows.
All in all I would think it to be an amazing machine, just as the current STI's.

thats awesome

I like the thought that Toyota and Subaru are going to competing againset each other when it comes to improving their cars with TRD and STi parts since it seems the cars are tuned for different mindsets (Subie more stability and Toyotas more agility)
