Feel bad for self funded race cars... but what happens to the legit race cars that are sponsored? Do the sponsors just say shit and start funding the parts for the next build or what? Sorry if this takes the tread off topic, anyone who LEGITIMATELY knows the answer feel free to PM me as to not wreck the thread.

Thanks for the kind words and generous offer. We just started on the repair process and hope to have the car ready soon to test more parts on the car. This downtime is killing us!

Nearly all race cars are majority self funded. In the case of major race cars, sponsors either provide parts, cash, or both.

Or this can happen:

And at an AutoX. Granted we do use a short track oval style to do our autoX. estimated damage is running about CAD15,000.

You always know this can happen. I also do RallyX and TSD rally and "Hornet" racing as well. Just why this car at this time?

What happened? Was it during autox/track?

Yes, during autox. In second cone of slalom and for some reason car went straight instead of left. Before I really know what is happening driving up about 15' berm (front damage), then slid down side of berm (now steeper) onto left side, then over onto top.

Definitely not the norm, but out of all the clubs that use the venue for autox events there usually is about one incident a year.

Fortunately I am in the position to say "That is racing". Still looking at options (repair or salvage). These cars are so new that the body shop is not really confident about the quote provided.
