Strangely enough, that hasn't stopped him from continuing to modify his own car in the past 6 months, or going to the track nearly every weekend even though he claims the rheumatoid arthritis in his wrists is cripplingly severe. Last I checked, your wrists were pretty important when steering and shifting.

There was no reason for Alex to wreck, let alone be driving hard. That was not why he was given permission to drive the car; he wanted to feel out the tires that we were testing. No need to be doing hot laps to be feeling the tires. He didn't even complete a single lap, but managed to have the brakes smoking already (Essex/AP Racing "Sprint" kit, Carbotech XP12 [2000+F MOT]).

Ultimately, I was the one who made the call to hand over the keys, so I am taking responsibility; I am still accountable to the owners of CSG, and thus, have put up my personal car for sale to cover the repairs, sale, and subsequent purchase of a new BRZ. This is the only option I have to cover the loss, as I'm don't have 10k cash sitting around in a savings account. More than anything, my apologies go out to the sponsors for our car, some of whichwho have already had some exposure, as well as the majority who have NOT had any exposure through us, due to ongoing R&D and our collective unwillingness to announce/release products/setups that are not complete.

At the end of the day, I can eventually replace my CR when I save up the funds to do so. @Dave-ROR may say that I need more kool-aid first.

Alex offered us a few grand for repairs. As you know, we don't do anything half-assed, and we chose a body shop with a reputation for great work. http://www.yelp.com/biz/superior-pv-...south-el-monte Here's the first quote for repairs; we're getting a 2nd one today.

I'd never say that considering the situation, that's all in jest as I hope you know.

I can't express how sorry I am that this situation happened. This is also the reason I refuse to drive anyone else's car on the track, the fact that the driver isn't willing to fully repair the car doesn't surprise me even though I find it dispicable.

I really hope other arrangements can be made to help repair the car, if the amount was lower I'd say start a collection, I'd throw some cash over your way to help out but I don't see the forum having enough willing members to get ~7.5k or whatever the difference is from what Alex is willing to throw in (even between S2KI and here). Might still be worth looking into though, a friend (and vendor back in the day) on the ITR forum lost his families home to a fire several years ago and we rasied several thousand for him. Personally I'd rather see something like that than you having to sell your S2K.

If there's anything you guys need that I can help with let me know.

Need a dislike button. Sucks that a driver wrecked your car and wont take responsibility for their actions. Good luck and hope it all works out soon.

Doesn't momofoolio have a track 06 s2k? Why doesn't he liquidate that car to pay for his mistake? Not cool!!!

A true stand up guy,

Mike Knows how to drive someone else's car on track and has treated my car like his own and helped me greatly.

Anything I can do to help with the development process, my Brz is available to you.

I will still have that product awaiting your approval when the time comes. :happy0180:

By the way thanks for the all the help (even in the midst of your personal Crisis) with the 370Z brake suggestions and extra personal service.

Whoa that is shocking Mike, but like others said just let us know if you need are help. If you need an FRS/BRZ during the downtime mine is available to you if need to test fitting or whatever. Just don't crash it

Like what Dave said, I wouldn't mind helping you out and i'm sure there is others that feel the same way. I'm sure hundreds of people would be willing to throw in a little for something like a CSG sticker for $5-10 bucks on here and s2ki. It would suck to lose such a knowledgeable person.

We're working on a solution, but worse comes to worst, I have some offers on my CR that I'm willing to entertain. I've already parted it out to cover immediate expenses.

We're not going anywhere, regardless of the outcome of our attempts at a resolution to the situation.

I drove @D1cker's FRS at FT86Cup round 1... albeit to a fairly slow 2:04.xxx.

No one in the right mind would push their car off a cliff and walk away if there is the slight bit of utility left in it unless they were getting paid more than they are losing or it's something that's not theirs and no value of their own is lost.

No one goes to the track and says, "I'm gonna race with no holds barred and if the car happens to die in a fire, I'll have 0 fear of crashing it, and potentially killing myself or by-standers". That statement is basically a sociopath talking.

The only place where you see people being able to destroy their cars without remorse in a somewhat sane mindset is destruction derby where they get honking pieces of shit to blow up.

Those that track a lot know the risks. That doesn't stop them. There is an understanding that things can and may, and eventually WILL go wrong if you do it enough. That doesn't mean they are sociopaths. I was talking to Mike last night and I told him that to be truly fast, you have to be willing to risk the car. It's just part of the game. Those that aren't willing to risk the car won't ever be able to eek out that 1%. It is important to leave a little bit on the table, but to reach your true potential, you have to take more risks.

You don't get faster by braking in the same place and getting on the gas at the same point, lap after lap. You have to keep pushing to find time. Even the greatest drivers in the world miscalculate at times. I dont think there is a single successful career racing driver out there who has not had an accident on track.

guy says a fucking slow 2:04 ()

if there was a slap smiley I'd be all over that on you!

On a real note though, I think the expression is crap. There is definitely a huge fear that comes into play when tracking any car let alone a $25,000 dollar investment but, that's the choice you make. Risk over Reward comes into play and for me enjoying a car that was purpose built from the factory and purpose tuned in the aftermarket there really is no better reward. Don't track a car faster than your level of experience is all I could say, and take it easy until you feel the track, not just know it... They are two very different things.
