No need for apologies. Fact is, you can read and quote compressor maps all you'd like but that's just one side of the equation in regards to turbo efficiency. What ultimately matters is what that turbo and setup can do for your application : in this case a HC DI motor like the FA20.

You could spool a bigger turbo up to 9k rpm to get your peak numbers at a lower boost at say, 8.5PSI - but everything else in between isn't going to be remotely interesting, much less usable. In this case, if you'd note the range between 3500 to 6700 RPM - it maintains well over 200#s of (usable) torque before hitting peak power.

If the turbo wasn't well matched or as efficient, we would have seen that torque line drop off much earlier and faster. Just my 2 cents!

I completely agree. One of the reasons this great is so desired. Is the turbo placement a big factor in the curve?

I got to ask.. It is just me, but this is annoying the hell out of me.. Why the top secret hush hush on the psi.. I just don't get it.. I always see somebody post something yet leave out info for what ever reason.. But I'm baffled as to why.. I guess I might be able to understand why a company would elect not to let someone know about the compressor, not really, but I guess it's so no one else sticks the same one on their kit first??? Idk.. Not saying its shady, but that's the first thing that pops in my mind.. Is it not the power your expecting and want to finish the tune first.. If so why not wait till its finished.. Or just let future customers know this is still being tuned better numbers to follow

I'm by no means knocking the companies, I just don't understand this part of business I guess.. I know it's probably a ignorant question..

I can't speak for anyone else less me, myself and I - but the reason is very simple, since it's still work in progress. But I digress.

Say I quote a number, then all of a sudden, I'm held to that number. Since this is preliminary, and after I get done with what I deem as final, I might get more power with LESS boost than initially quoted. All of a sudden, someone here is going to "suspect" foul play, even though I've stated that it's under 10PSI. I will hold myself to that number (<10PSI) and we'll see what happens thereafter.

Only reason why this is here now (as a peek) is that AVO wanted to demonstrate what a tuned calibration would do for their kit, and we are confident that the end result would make cleaner runs, possibly higher numbers as well.

Regards,

Awesome results, thanks for sharing this! When are we going to see hand-drawn dyno comparing other FI options? :-P

I suppose that will happen when I elect to do a hypothetical assumption of power delivery on a yet unfinished product with modded components, comparing them to results from a competing product with less boost... clearly the norm isn't to use my own dyno chart either.

I'm anxious to see your results... and SOON. Might be all the justification to get an AT setup for that mythical FRS convertible when it comes out!

Regards!

Bob if we have ordered the Stg1 kit from AVO how hard is it to get this tune to flash for our cars?

Here you go:

I'm not affiliated with either AVO or Drift Office btw, I was just tickled pink by some company's dyno chart comparison and I thought some reciprocity is in order. And since I was already in Photoshop, I might as well do this overlay also.
