As for replacing the filter, you can easily remove it through the top gap in the bumper without removing the bumper. You just need to get a screwdriver in there to loosen the clamp and it will just slide off and squeeze through the gap, it's foam so it squeezes easily. Honestly though, I though removing the bumper was going to be a chore, but once I did it I realized how easy it really is once you know exactly what you are doing.

EDIT: I just realized, no you can't do the initial install without taking the bumper off because there is no way to adjust the black plastic air dam with the bumper still attached.
I actually managed to do that with only bending the bumper back some and a 10mm ratchet removing the stock air dam. I don't recommend this though... remove the bumper so you don't risk cracking anything.

fun fact, it takes only a few moments to resize photos. MS Paint can even do it. OH? you might have a mac, GOOD - it is a feature built right into Preview.

argh

The forum auto-resizes photo's for people...I don't know what browser you're using but they work fine for me. I leave my photo's at their original resolution on purpose for this reason...because I know the forum will resize them automatically and when someone wants to take a close look at something for reference (such as the little clips on the air dam) they can easily zoom in on a single spot. I for one am sick of DIY's with tiny blurry photo's that you cant tell a damn thing when you're looking for a detailed photo on some specific part where you can't quite figure out what the photo-less instructions are talking about..

I am fluent in Photoshop and plenty of other photo editing software...it's not my fault you are using ether an archaic or crappy internet browser that can't utilize the forums auto-resize feature, even my smartphone does it properly. I suggest you download ether Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome and stop using Internet Explorer/Safari, because it is crap!

I use chrome. Sadly I use it on a government computer that sucks **** because the public demands we do everything for them at the lowest cost imaginable/no cost to them. The joys, the joys.

The browser does auto resize after downloading the full image, but that does kill my magical sever run computer.

Ugh...maybe in my next thread...I really don't feel like reuploading 30 photo's... Imgur is a pain in the ass as it is. Also I said I'm fluent...I never said I enjoy editing photo's.

It's fine don't worry haha. I appreciate the detail and work you put into this thread. I resize all of my shots before I upload but I can do all photos in a batch on my Mac almost instantly with the OS' built in software. It is certainly slower in photoshop.

How do you find the induction noise? I have an air raid. I will end up putting back in the stock intake this spring. So let down by that product

Re-sizing isn't a problem, both Imgur and Photobucket have options to resize photo's as they upload. Again, I uploaded full-resolution on purpose for detail.

Just installed my Perrin CAI with the silicon tube. 3 people came up to me in my apartment complex already commenting "That looks sweet!".

This is definitely on the more difficult side of installing an intake but it sure was fun. I'm now a master FR-S bumper remover, especially finding out about the brackets late for the air dam and having to remove it to put the brackets on, moving the air dam back.... That's what I get for being ansy and jumping ahead.

Follow Perrin's instructions kids. It works! I didn't lift my car at all.

Can you make a DIY youtube video showing us how to properly remove the front bumper faster than rotating the tires? No seriously..

I'm noticing quite a bit of driveability difference between the aFe Takeda and the Perrin CAI. My low end, low rpm that required a bit more gas is gone. The Perrin is very responsive, sounds great, and looks wonderful.
