Sitting so low, every truck coming from the front and driving towards you through a puddle, tends to splash you in the face.

which reminds me, another thing to be cautious about is being in other people's blind spot. the 86 is low and small, it's easy to do.

Very true! Also when pulling out from next to a "normal" car, others don't see you till the last minute. It has a similar feeling to driving an old mini but the 86 is substantially longer and wider. But I will admit the bigger vehicles are far from intimidated...

also - be AWARE that almost any big vehicle behind you CANT see you very well either. I know because I had one come real close.. he looked away -- I was right in front of him and the dumass went... hit me and now dam car getting fixed. from now on - if I see any large vehicle behind me just move up or get the hell out of the way asap.. don't sit there or its a low target for anything bigger than an accord...

Ouch, sorry to hear.

Almost had an incident with a Discovery4 driver - she was next to me and started changing lanes. I hooted but she just kept coming, hooted some more and she eventually looked down and saw my car.

We probably need little bright orange flags on our roofs.

Discovery 4's (and 3's for that matter) are the new BMW's... Found a good video which demonstrates hi-spec and standard models being abused on a wet piece of road in what appears to be a controlled environment.

Bet you they'd notice a blue light on the roof...

But that's impersonating an officer of the law and properly illegal...

I'm considering a hooter upgrade maybe...

The heavens opened up in Durbs today, hit some deep puddles, car handled extremely well, was expecting to glide.
Then I also felt like I was in a submarine.

This car is lower than you think... pulled into a steep driveway and struggled to get out again... all the covers make the car even lower than it apears from the side...

Interestingly enough I find myself sliding more readily on a dry road. Maybe I'm just more cautious in the wet or more confident in the dry but to me the car needs more provocation to slide in the wet. A very impressive piece of engineering. Wipers are also very good in the rain. Hit some huge puddles on the weekend and the car was very stable.

my car did stall on me once while idling and every now and then almost stalls b/c the idling rpm drops too low, but it always recovers except that one time.
concerning though that Toyota and subaru have different solutions

Had my cam gear replaced at 600km and the problem was gone, now at 5456km and still no problems after the mandatory 1600km drive in, but very interesting article. cant believe they are claiming ECU when Cam gear is the actual fix, 0016 (top left cam gear) 0017 (bottom left) 0018 (top right) 0019 (bottom right)
plain and simple..........
