If it were me, Id buy a Fully optioned TRD model for 50k and let it sit in a heated warehouse for 30-40 years, then let my daughter auction it off for 100k. Consider it a future investment to get my daughter out of any emergency financial trouble.
For a 30-40 year investment, I'd really hope you beat a 100% return. That's 2.5% return at most. Although I guess you would also have the joy of going to your heated warehouse to look at it...

I must say, I'm liking that TRD has the suspension and clutch sets coming out, yay for warranty coverage.

The clutch and flywheel pricing is not too bad either, considering you can retain warranty.

Remember Toyota sells this as a package. Cover, disk (maybe flywheel). All together, part package is with just the cover and the clutch disk works out to $803, not adding labor. With labor and taxes, you are probably looking at least a $1500-1800 job, if not more (if you want to keep your warranty)

Yes and no. The carbon fiber bits could come from either side of the family. Subaru has been using it for generations now from their aerospace division and continues to make offerings that interest us. The first bar I remember is the version 2 STi Impreza.

What intrigues me is where the current offerings are produced? Are they coming straight from Toyota or Subaru? Does the joint venture continue through accessories?

Meh. Whatevs. Just keep bringing kick ass parts for us to drool over!

I'd put money on the LFA strut tower bar and 86 TRD strut tower bar having been weaved from the same in-house loom. Maybe the very loom Toyota over-invested in making (only 2 such looms exist in the world; the other probably contracted by companies such as Ferrari, etc.). The CF weave pattern and shaft size look virtually identical from what I see in the pictures. Can't get more "direct" than that, if true.

Not sure if that would be a good investment given inflation and increasing cost of energy.

Really? hmmm id have though it be a good idea. seeing as how mint condition classic cars over 30+ years old that are rare special editions are appraised pretty high regardless of inflation and cost of energy.

the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was sold for $7269 putting it at $43,972 with inflation today, but its current market value for a pristine mint condition is $425,000.

thinking of the speedhunters feature with mint condition 1985 ae86 sprinter GT-Apex, priced around 14-16k USD, inflation today puts it around 27-30k today. But sold in todays market i was told around 40k.

Id have figured that a rare 2013 GT86 TRD (full options) model sold for 50k, and then placed on the market in 40 years still prestine would be appraised pretty high. I mean what we are getting are not exactly corollas and Camry, and civics which have very little collectors value because they are not rare and not sports cars

It looks like a pretty common twill weave to me. There's only so many ways to weave carbon tows into tubes. It also depends on how many of those machines they built. There's no way they're making all of these on one machine if it's the only one.

STi has been doing carbon braces for years as has been pointed out. FHI does have an aerospace division and carbon has been a huge force in aerospace for many years now.

In other news, I really want that steering wheel.

Nathan
