You don't use it while you're driving do you?! How is this a defensible reason for why you drive an AT?

Have you tried shifting while using a laptop? I am not saying what I do is a reason, good driving etiquette, etc. etc. I am just saying what my job requires me to do sometimes on the fly. The craziness of it all? The only slight blemish on my driving record which has since been removed was a speeding ticket when I was 17...for going 38 in a 35.

Well... Not enterily true, my reason was the wait. It was either get the AT now or wait and wait and wait. My other car is MT turbo and goes to the track plenty but with this I drove it and also saw the potential once the aftermarket release some upgrades for the AT (matter of time) to be able to hang or be better than any MT, plus no sore left foot!!

Not with this car. Clutch effort is roughly analogous to stepping on a plum.

According to the EPA, maybe, but I'm increasingly finding that the EPA numbers don't mean much.

Apples to apples, I submit that a manual or automated clutch transmission will always return better fuel economy when compared to a comparable torque-converter automatic - the efficiency numbers simply don't lie. The FR-S/BRZ automatic isn't comparable, because its gearing is significantly higher.

I have two paddles and a sequential stick. I can shift my OWN gears just fine.

both normal wear and tear items. I cant imagine normal stop and go traffic causing as much premature wear on a mechanical part as it would with a clutch.....

I know, the point is more that the wannabe engineer in me finds it horrifying that below the "roll speed" in 1st gear, the engine is working extra hard to wear the brakes down faster and heat the transmission fluid. Ew.

Ironically, the wear the clutch experiences from having to start the car from a dead stop often is worse, but at least it only happens when necessary.

4. Kansas City is the worst place to drive. You don't get the option of rush hour, rush hour gets you, anytime, anyplace, anywhere. We aren't cows and corn out here, I swear the Illuminati is running this shit.
5. The parts are much cheaper when vendors are like "hey, uh, we need an AT to try this stuff out".
6. I haven't decided if I will let this go for a Supra or if I will just give it to my gf, either way, it will hold some value and my patience to teach that woman how to drive a manual is zilch.
