I think it is just the wording. Where I live I don't have 91...only 87,89, and 93. I don't think there would be any engine knock if that is what subaru says is acceptable.

We don't get anything better than 91 in California. I haven't had any issues. There may be some slight knock that is so subtle you cannot hear or feel it, but the computer pulls timing. I've not noticed any audible knock. Temps have varied from 25f to 110f since I got the car.
