I would still take a 458 over it

4:19 looks like ad08 to me. wide slicks plus crazy downforce must be the answer, but 6 seconds is a pretty huge difference. TRD aero must be ridiculous.

Impressive, though I'm curious to know how much they spent to make that car 3 milliseconds faster than the 458. Full carbon fiber can't be cheap.

So the question is, can full race slicks shave 6 seconds off street tires (AD08) on a track like Tsukuba?

Edit: Actually, would it be that hard to believe the HKS 86 400PS was 6s slower on street tires? The 458 posted a slower lap time than the Griffin 86, and we're assuming the 458 was on street tires. |

good question, but they were trying to prove they could beat the lap time of the ferrari so i doubt they would mod it to make it even more difficult on themselves...

I think we can reasonably conclude that they used a stock 458 for this comparison.
Here's the breakdown. Ferrari 458: Lap time: 1:02.24 Power: 570PS / 562HP Weight: 3042lbs Front Tire: 235/35 ZR20 Rear Tire: 295/35 ZR20 Griffin 86: Lap time: 1:01.872 Power: 200HP (stock) Weight: ~2276lbs (500lbs weight reduction) Front/Rear Tire: 250/640R18 Yokohama racing slicks |
