These are very valid points. This system for the price point will be amazing!

The thing with this system, just as anything else in the world is the nicer things cost lots of money. Manufactures can put out anything that the market wants, but with that being said if the market is not willing to pay the money for such complex systems the manufacture will not come out with it. rheomagnetic damping has been out for some time, but is only a OEM quiped system due to the high cost that less then 1% of people looking to buy an aftermarket suspension system would even want to pay the price for such technology.

We are looking forward to getting our hands on this and putting it through the ringer on our shop BRZ. Should have some feedback sooner then later...only if this 1'+ of snow that we got last night would melt

Thanks,

We'll be testing a pair of these on our car soon.
I had an old boss who only looked at what higher level cars where using. My thought was let's look at what they are not allowed to use, that's the good stuff. I remember having a long discussion about active aero, this was pre DRS in F1 days.

This EDFC definelty looks cool

Unfortunately, they don't quite do what I originally wanted them to do. They're able to change damping via a multitude of options, and the speed-based damping changes is AWESOME for the entry level street dampers. Imagine a damper that changes based on driving condition. That's what Active EDFC adds to the dampers.

What I wanted was to be able to program damper settings based on GPS location, so that I could have different damper settings for different corners at the track. Unfortunately the Active EDFC doesn't have that capability at the moment.

So I take it that you would not prefer these dampers over traditional coils for more aggressive track days.

These aren't dampers... they're programmable motors that automatically change damper settings for you on the fly.

Well, as part of a Tein system correct? If so, then it's not just motors. I was not aware Tein has ever made EDFC to be used w/ other manufacturers. Original question stands if you feel comfortable giving an answer. You didn't seem enthusiastic about using them beyond street application.

It would also be nice to know how fast they react. I know magnethereological systems have a published spec, not that I'd ever expect these to match those.

It will work with any damper that has an adjustment knob that is compatible...

There's no need for these when you're using high end dampers, but for the average FRS/BRZ owner that's on a 800-2500 dollar set of coilovers, these will help quite a bit.

There's no published reaction time, but it's fast enough that you can do G-force based active adjustment.

About $600. No info on what a 'compatible' system would be yet it seems.

I've just had a set of Tein Street Flex and EDFC Active Pro system fitted to my GT86.

The pro version does lateral G as well as braking and speed and uses the GPS system too for the speed.

This means that when you corner the outside dampers go stiffer than the inside ones. It's a very impressive system and the manager of Tein UK came to inspect the installation and to talk me through the setup process.

How my display looks, note that it displays settings for all four dampers which can adjust independently of each other.

There are now three of us in the UK with the EDFC Active Pro running Street Flex coilovers. The other two have 6/6kg though I went for 5/6kg spring setup.

Hey guys as you know I have been working on the Bilstein Damptronics package using the CAN data and a G sensor to make the shocks reactive to all the same inputs with great success, this is the next suspension upgrade for everybody. We just got back from VIR testing and other than changing some front dampner worked perfectly going flat through the Ss. I'm working on the spring mounts and camber plates getting rid of all the clicks and bumps from the coil overs but getting close to having a product as well. The car rides like a Camry on the road and a Porsche on the track with the push of a button. I will be at Road Atl in May for the David Murry track day if anybody wants to see it.
Thanks
