You would end up in CSP. Lot of "slow" Miata competition. Get to run R compounds, trany work. All that good expensive stuff. Might as well go SM and FI.

FYI: If you are at 0 toe in front. 3 turns of the 'flats' on the tie rods on both sides gets you to 1/4" total toe out. So 1 and 1/2 turns would be ~ 1/8" total toe out.

Thats some good info..
Wouldn't it be dependent on ride height tho??

Yea, it was more the CS guys. It would probably be pretty close though. I mean in reality who cares what the number is. If you just try different things, do it the same on both sides and make sure you record your 'base' settings, you can find what you like. 3 turns of the flats is good to know for everyone though because if you are at like 9 turns..you know something isnt right.

I'm bored so I'm poking around the engine bay... question?
Is it legal to remove the metal bracket on the driver side of the engine? It serves no other purpose than as a cover for some fuel injection components.
It's the one that looks similar to the ecu mount.. but on the other side.

Here.

It's quite heavy for its relatively meaningless job. I'd say close to 5 lbs.

I am going to say 'NAY'..

"I. Upper engine shields made of plastic material, the purpose of which is to hide mechanical components in the engine compartment, may be removed if they have a solely aesthetic and/or acoustic function."

Since its a Gov. Mandated Safety item (Fuel rail protection).. and its metal, not Plastic, Like the intake cover on the top... I would not remove it.

Bill

Alright I am getting serious about auto x now. Ive already had a good headstart with the suspension and wheel and tires mods for STX. I don't want to touch my powertrain for fear of voiding warranty. What are the key things for STX that I need that arent powertrain related?

I've already done shocks and springs, camber plates, sway bars, rear LCA, and wheels/tires.

Those items plus header and a tune are the key items for STX. There's obviously more but those items (plus header/tune) are 80% of it.

Lighter battery would be nice, easy way to save 20 lbs.
