I have 17x9 with 255's. You need coilovers to fit them. Even with a tune i don't see a reason for more tire.

I've run both 245 and 255 on 9 and I think I like the 245s better. Just get 17x9s, you should be able to run et35 without coils.

Plus the 9" RPF1s look SOOOOO much better than the 8" version.

I got coilovers already so offset was never an issue. it was just deciding on rim size...but yeh think i am gonna just get the 9's.

What did you like better about the 245?

245 or 255 of what tire? That makes a difference because some have a stiffer sidewall than others. I was on 255 RS3's and like them a lot, though some prefer the 245. Just got a set of 255 ZII's I will be testing this weekend. They have a stiffer sidewall so they should be more responsive. I will be testing them against a set of Rivals in College station next month. Seems like the street tire classes don't generally try to fit the biggest rubber under the car as possible like we used to do in SP. With the right setup, I feel the more tire the better?

Do the 17X9 +35, if you get more involved in STX you will already have the right setup.

I was running 245 RS3s which have soft sidewall so I think the stretch helped the tire a little bit and I run mostly on concrete so I just loved the RS3s personally. I'm on 255 ZIIs now. I have an extra set of 17x9s so I think I'm gonna get a set of 245 Rivals to try as well...

My setup: RPF1 17x9 +35 with 245/40R17 Rivals. My best recommendation is to go with 17x9 +35 if you plan on purchasing a BBK in the future.

Rim width doesn't have an effect on brake clearance as much as offset and spoke design. Essex racing has a list of confirmed wheels that work with their kit on their site.

Enkei RPF1 17x8 45
Enkei RPF1 (very tight fit, but works) 17x9 35
Enkei Fujin 17x7.5 40
Kosei K4R 17x8 36
Mach V Motorsports "Awesome" wheel 17x9 42
OZ Ultraleggera 17x8 +48
Rays CE28N 18x7.5 47
Sparco (designed by OZ) Assetto Gara 17x7.5 48
Subaru OEM STI Wheels (2004) 17x7.5 53
Team Dynamic 1.2 17x7 38
Volk Racing TE37RT 17x9.5 +40
Wedsport TC105n 17x9 35
Wedsport TC105n 17x8 +42
Work Ultimates 18x8.5 47

Danny has a set of 17x9 et35 RPF1s that fit over his AP Racing kit, so he sold me the 17x9 +45's that came with the car from Andrew. Win for me.

Also on the Rivals, a 245 might also be better in that size. They have a softer sidewall as well and I think they liked being stretched a bit. I had my 245's stretched on a 9.5" wheel on the STi, seemed to work pretty well.

Anybody think it's necessary to change trans/diff fluids for autox use to something like Motul? Or is the oem fluid ok? I remember reading somewhere that the rear diff fluid overheated during track use, but what about autox?

Thanks!

My mods: Eibach Sportline springs, Eibach sway bars front and rear, SPC camber bolts and rear LCAs, 16x7 Volk TE37s with 225/50/16 Hankook RS-3 140UTQ. I should still qualify for STX class if I am correct?

Correct. I'd love those wheels if you ever get bored with them, assuming they are +42 or higher
