Boxer Rear Zenith doesn't exactly roll off the tongue/easy to retain but it does make sense if you know the prize winning features of the car.

I think it's because the Twins (like that Mercedes in the 1st post) have bad names.
Acronyms and Alphanumeric names are about as appropriate for cars as they are for pets and people. Ignoring the actual qualities of the car for a moment, real names appeal to people better than non-real names. And while that's an opinion I believe there's evidence somewhere that suggests humans remember a names better than alphanumeric designations or acronyms.

This has happened to me numerous times. That look that I get after explaining that the two are mechanically identical is usually followed by "No they aren't. The BRZ has a turbo and AWD." I just reply with a face palm.

As I was filling out the paperwork when buying my BRZ, the finance lady told me it was AWD. I had to explain to her that the car she was selling me was, in fact, RWD.

It is sad when the customer knows more about the car than the employees at the dealership...though at least it wasn't a sales rep. Mine, though he was amazing for getting me the car I wanted promptly, knew almost nothing about the car.

This. The salesmen told me that they had ordered some BRZ STI models if I wanted to wait a bit for one.

in my short time on this earth, i have noticed that the people selling cars don't really know that much about them... how come there is never a car enthusiast salesman? |

I still get asked lots of question when I pull up somewhere. Got asked if it was a Porche recently. Should have seen the look on her face when I said "Nope, just a Subaru". haha
