That's called VIT(vehicle inventory tax), and the best part about it is that the consumer does NOT have to pay a single penny of it.

Tax, title and license is all that a buyer is required to pay in addition to the vehicle itself. Of course the dealer has every right to tell you to go pound sand...which is where capitalism rears its ugly head and ****slaps that dealer by having you spend your money elsewhere.

Do not ever pay VIT. And it can't be hidden in the work sheet, it will be clearly listed and 100% optional. If the salesman lies about it by saying you must pay it(and they certainly will lie about it), tell him OK, but you are bringing in your bill for your property tax and expect HIM(not the dealer) to pay for it. When he gets that extreme look of surprise on his face, feel free to explain the similarity.
