Haha! I wish it were that simple.

Truth be told....my last deployment left me with a lot of psychological baggage. Baggage that will remain with me forever.

And through all of it my friends and family have stood by me and really let me lean them.

When I finally decided to make a claim to veterans affairs I did so only after I knew my medical category was going to change to one that would preclude me from future deployments.....that in itself violates our code of "universality of service" and except in cases of occupational manning shortages or the possession of special skills would result in a medical release.

So...contrary to popular belief my claim was processed successfully without the need to appeal and one year later I had a significant cheque mailed to me.

I told my wife that although the money was quite handy and would go a long way towards getting us out if debt in no uncertain terms was I going to put it all into debt reduction.

14 years of service with only the medals on my chest and wounds to my "headspace and timing"!?!? NO EFFING WAY!!!

I truly look at my car as my retirement gift. And although my wife just sees "a car" she understands what it means to me.

So yeah! Im not parting with it for anything.

One day when Toyota unveils there newest sports car it'll be the FR-S in the background just like the 2000 GT was for this launch. And that makes me smile.

Hard to say. The FR-S just fits my life so well in a two-car garage. Not too expensive to track and mod, and more fun than anything in the price range. Maybe an STI or TRD version when it comes out.

Hey thanks buddy, grats on your new girlfriend.. FRS I mean

Since I never stated what it would take to make me go my separate way I suppose it would be me totaling the car. But more than likely I would salvage any part I could then start on my next platform.. aka another twin. Though totaling my car would never be by my own doing

A great deal on a CaymanS or a really nice sub 30k 996 CS. They are out there. We LOVE the FRS, but I do have feelings that we should have just pulled the trigger on what we really wanted.

The hardest part of this decision is going from a 7-100k warranty to maybe a little factory warranty or cpo warranty on a car that will cost a kidney and a lung to maintain, lol. Once you experience the flat 6 it is awefully hard to find anything else to satisfy that itch though!

Only way is if Toyota released a targa-top version.

After reading these replies it seems like a lot of owners are wishing their cars were something they're not. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but I know I bought my fr-s especially because it was a Toyota.

well when ever the BRZ STI comes out of course... legit right?
I say potentially the STI, however, as many model examples from Japanese manufacturer did before, the next version may be worse, or not as good as the original one.
