I would say a bare bones FRS. No need to pay for all that extra fluff. Plus the bumper on the FRS looks better.

HID's are cheap, you can get better seats and who needs the ac stuff really?

Looks like the FRS has some great crumple zones!

Sorry about your car, mine will be the exact same car, hope it doesn't have the same fate!

That sucks!

It's probably the first twin they've seen though, they're probably trying to understand the turboencabulator so they can estimate a repair cost.

1) Glad you are ok!

2) Sorry about the car, man. Other than the massive delay, sounds like things are being handled normally. Just don't forget to keep looking forward when you drive--I got rear-ended (not quite that badly) and almost ran into a couple people days afterwards because I was too busy being afraid of what was behind me.

3) Might as well be branded a "vulture"--if the car is totatled, are they going to let you salvage parts from it?

Thanks. I think I'm going to go for the frs again. The only things I really liked about the brz are the ac controls, heated seats, and push to start. Now that I think about it though, I don't even need heated seats being in California. I don't think I can spend 3-4k more for these options.
Btw the bumper on the frs does look a lot better, but I'm one of the few who like the mouth guard on the front(:

2) I've actually already caught myself doing this at stops. Then again I've always been a real cautious driver. I don't trust any other drivers on the road.

3) Ill figure that out if they tell me it's not totaled. They called me this morning and told me it was up to 14k in damage and they had to talk to USAA in order to continue stripping it down.

People keep asking this question so I figure some of you should do some reading on what makes an airbag work. Read below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbag

It mentions sensors, impact severity and angle. Getting hit doesn't mean all your airbags deploy, if it did work that way you would have enormous repair bills for the slightest little accidents.

They work by having multiple sensors for each airbag. If a specific amount of sensors are activated, the airbag deploys. If less than the needed amount of sensors is activated, the bag doesn't deploy.

If you skip to section 3 of the link I provided(How Airbags Work), it says exactly what I typed above and goes further to mention the angle/severity part too before deciding whether to deploy or not. The last thing you want is all or even one of your airbags going off when you didn't need it. The fact that the OP was uninjured proves this.

Update: Officially Totaled

I finally got the word 2 days ago that the car is in fact totaled. They offered me 25 for the car which I declined as I paid close to 32 in total. I'll keep you guys in the loop with everything going on. Im talking to a dealer who said he's getting a massive shipment in this week today. I might even do the paperwork for it (:

I admit I haven't read all postings here but be cautioned that your insurance company will not base their evaluation on how much you paid for the car. They will more than likely look at what the costs of a new one would be and then take a pre-determined deduction for the mileage you've put on your car. To that they would add taxes, licensing, etc.

If you had an extended warranty rolled in which raised your original cost, you should be able to get it refunded. The insurance company won't pay for that.
